I recently stayed here overnight on a business trip, staff are nice and friendly, it's location for central Madrid is very good. The room was comfortable with good facilities, breakfast was good enough and I liked the hotels character. Would certainly consider staying here again as it's not too far from our office.

Room Tip: See if you can get a room facing out onto the street, some have balconies too.

It's true, the hotel is aging and needs refurbishment. But just enough refurbishment to upgrade the facilities without taking away it's unique charm and character. They were having some sort of renovation on the outside of the building though, scaffolding and all.

Staff is efficient, friendly and helpful. Room was small and dimly lit, so was the foyer area and restaurant where breakfast is being served. We had the non-smoking room but it still smells of smoke.

Location is very good though. Walking distance to tourist attractions, stores, restaurants, metro (5 mins to Plaza de Espana subway station), etc.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights last September when visiting a friend. It is quite comfortable and very close to Madrid highlights. Lots of restaurants next to the hotel, coffee shops and movie theater. It is a bit pricey but it's worth the nice sleep we had. Specially because it was very close to our friend's place.

Aging hotel but well located. My room was small and quite dark with a only a small window on the courtyard. The staff is friendly. Breakfast is OK.
Remember to book a non-smoking room if your are a non-smoker, some rooms stink of smoke.

Stayed here from april 7th - 10th 2014 and was pleasantly surprised by the kindness of staff and attention to detail especially in the breakfast room. ( they only do bed and breakfast) Room was clean and well lit and the bed linen was spotless, as was the toilet. A/C was in the room and controlled by yourself and was whisper quiet. All in all a very nice place to stay.

Room Tip: This hotel is on a side street so there is no noise problem also two lifts to all floors.
