“Great city, great hotel!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2013

We stayed in Catalonia Hotel for 2 days and it was great. It is really a close walking distance to Plaza Mayor or Museo del Prado. Gran Via is also just 15 minutes away. There is plenty of restaurants and bars within 3 mins. The hotel has a lovely and helpfull staff. Our room has a great soundproof windows and amazing king size bed. Very very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, fresh fruit, vegetable and sweets.

We don't think the location of this hotel could be any better as its pretty central to all the main tourist sites and ten minutes away from the lively city night life. The staff are very helpful - I accidentally booked an incorrect room and Naomi on Reception couldn't have been more helpful or polite. We cannot remember the barman's name but he was equally polite and friendly. We cannot comment on the breakfasts as we prefer to eat somewhere different every day and there are plenty of options in the immediate area. The rooms were very nice, comfortable and clean. The bed and the shower were the best that we have ever experienced anywhere. We thoroughly recommend this hotel and we will definitely return there ourselves.

First of all, thank you very much for your long and interesting review. Our special gratitude on behalf of Noemí, our wonderful Receptionist, and the rest of our Staff. If you found the bed comfortable, do not miss the opportunity to come back and check our new bed equipment. It consists on a new visco elastic memory foam mattress topper. It will make you feel as if you were slipping on a cloud. We look forward to see you very soon. Best regards from Madrid.

This hotel is perfectly placed for all Madrid sightseeing. Staff are all helpful and friendly. Good breakfasts with plenty of choice. Rooms clean comfortable and the best shower we've ever had in an hotel. Weather was great whilst we were there so the roof terrace and jacuzzi were a great way to relax after a hot day sightseeing. The only thing that would have enhanced our stay would have been tea/coffee making facilities in our room some thing we did miss.

Thank you for sharing with other users your experience in our hotel. We are glad to know that you had such a wonderful stay. Regarding the tea / coffee facilities, and after several requests from our guests, we decided to add this equipment in our Superior rooms. But now, we are even considering the possibility of buying some extra water heaters to provide this service on request also in our standard rooms. We look forward to seeing you again very soon. Best regards from Madrid.

We stayed here 3 nights 9/21-23/2013. The hotel is located within walking distance of many of the attractions in Madrid. Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are good and serviceable. A good choice for beginning your touring in Spain.

A good location is usually the most important requirement in the moment of buying a new building in order to turn it into a new Catalonia hotel. As you have checked by your own, we did not make any exception with Catalonia Atocha hotel. We were looking for a building half way from the Art Triangle (Prado Museum, Thyssen Collection and Reina Sofia Museum), the big Retiro Park and the old area of the city around Plaza Mayor. But It had to be also close to the Atocha Railway Station…Difficult? Not that much. Thank you very much for your nice words.

I stayed 9 night at Atocha hotel, having organized a trip to visit the city.
Great location with major known interesting point close and accessible by foot, which is the best way to discover a city.
Pretty good service from the hotel at reservation time, providing all necessary information to join them using several ways: bus, train, taxi. Complete information, and accurate.
Staff is very helpful, specially if you are not afraid of most not speaking English at all (the reception desk well).
Nice terraces on the roof, with Jacuzzi, nice idea for relaxing between 2 visits.
Breakfast fresh and of good quality, some meal prepared in front of you.
I will rebook next year
My quotation is based on a 4* hotel class

Room Tip: You would consider selecting a street view which is clearer, but be aware that street noise is quite...

We spent a week of our holidays at Hotel Catalonia Atocha and had a excellent stay! We used this hotel as based an took day trips to the outskirts of Madrid as well. This was our first stay at a Catalonia hotels chain and we loved it! The hotel is modern, clean and nice sized rooms, the service was excellent, breakfast was very complete, and the hotel was located near the tourist areas, with the metro station only half a block away. We heard absolutely no noise from the streets, even during the weekend, and we were at a close walking distance to several good restaurants. The rooms are modern and the shower was the best! Our room had a small terrace facing the street. There is also a market half a block away which sells fruit, drinks, hams, etc. The desk clerks were very amicable and assisted on providing details on requested locations. We considered this to be an excellent excellent value for the price and definitely recommend to anyone coming in to visit Madrid!!!

We liked this hotel for the same reasons we picked it:
- Roof terrace with jacuzzi (great after a hot day in Madrid)
- Value for money
- Good value breakfast
- Location

Hotel is near to the lovely park (can't remember the name!) and the art galleries, as well as a metro station. We mostly walked around Madrid and our hotel was central enough for this, although when eating out in the evenings we tended to head further afield.

Overall, you get what you pay for but it's almost priceless to have access to some outside space at a hotel in the centre of Madrid!

Room Tip: We went for a superior room with a balcony. Both the room and balcony were large, however we mainly...

We are glad to know that you had a nice stay in the hotel. Regarding the name of the park you couldn’t remember, it is the Retiro Park, the most famous and charming park in the city. Last but not least, in your next trip to Madrid, do not miss the opportunity of tasting our new Gourmet Corner cuisine. You will see that you do not need to go far to have a wonderful and healthy dinner in a modern and casual atmosphere. Best regards from Madrid.
