The Catalonia Atocha offers a great location, supreme service, and clean, modern rooms. The showers are the best. We had a 6th floor room on the street side and never heard a peep at night. The a/c worked well and we loved our patio for happy hour. The also have a beautiful rooftop area for sunning and hot tub. Ice is easily obtainable at the bar downstairs - they'll give you a pitcher or large glass full to take to your room. The breakfast buffet at 10euro is hard to beat - a huge spread with fresh fruit, made-to-order eggs, meats, breads - extensive. If you want to work out on your vacation there is a gym, Sogo Gym, across the street that only charges 25euro for the week. Friendly staff from the housekeepers to the bar and front desk. I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The 6th floor rooms have terraces.

Thank you Sir, thank you for being so kind with us. And thank you for the information about the Gym in Atocha. In your next trip to Madrid do not hesitate to ask us for some information about the "Catalonia Pass".
The "Catalonia Pass" would allow you to use the gym in the other hotel of our Company in the area, hotel Catalonia Plaza Mayor, a beautiful four stars boutique hotel in Atocha Street number 36.
Thank you again for your compliments. We look forward to hearing from you soon. Best regards.

This was a really good value for money hotel in a great location. I travelled with a friend and they made sure we had rooms next to one another. The rooms were a reasonable size and the bathroom with rainfall shower was a very good size. All staff were helpful, and friendly. However, the only drinking water in the room was in the mini bar at €2.5 for a small bottle, and there were no facilities to make a hot drink. There was also no info pack in the room. We requested non-smoking but were allocated smoking rooms. However there was also free wifi, and a really nice bar with reasonable prices for a hotel, and comfy chill out area. Worth noting that it is only 500m from Atocha Station, but most of it is up a steep hill. So if it is hot and you have heavy luggage, I'd still get a taxi.

We are glad you had a nice stay. Regarding the water, just a little clarification: the tap water in Madrid is been recognized as one of the best in Europe. It comes from the several reservoirs next to the mountain range in the north side of the region (Sierra de Guadarrama). It is known for its purity and freshness. We know that water has a bad taste and quality in some of the big capitals in Europe, but luckily it is not like this in Madrid. By the way, the price of the mineral water from the mini bar is 2€. Thank you very much for your compliments. We look forward to hearing from you soon. Best regards from Madrid.

The hotel is centrally located (metro station nearby, museums and nightlife are at its doorstep). The decoration is modern, the rooms very comfortable, clean and with nice design. Helpful staff. It was my first time and it was a great surprise, enough to recommend to other travelers.

I found this hotel on tripadvisor and stayed there for three days in June 2013.
The hotel is located in central Madrid – it is literally close to everything. It took a 5 minute walk to get to the Prado Museum, and it was a 5 minute walk in the other direction to Plaza Mayor. The room was spotless, and the bathroom was spacious and well equipped. Wireless internet was free - which my daughter really appreciated! The buffet breakfast was only 10 euros, and the food and service were just wonderful. The exterior of the building has an old charm, and the inside is fashionably renovated and new. I will definitely stay at this hotel if I visit Madrid again, and would strongly recommend it.

Room Tip: 3rd floor room facing the street is little noisy at night.

Dear guest,

The title of your review is a big compliment, but the rest is simply amazing for us. We do not find the appropriate words to thank you for your kindness. Of course,it will be a great pleasure to meet you again in the hotel. Regarding your advice for the rest of travellers, we also recommend our interior rooms to those who are specially sensitive to noise. Even if our exterior rooms have been protected with double windows, we do not have to forget that Atocha street is one of the main streets in the old side of the city. Thank you again for your very nice words. Best regards.

Chose this hotel based on convenient location (close to Atocha for airport bus and trains) and on other reviews on Trip Advisor. Was not disappointed. The room overlooked the street but was not at all noisy thanks to double glazing, the bed was really comfortable, the bathroom was bliss with fantastic shower. TV had BBC news and lots of tennis (it was the French Open). We were not disturbed at all by other guests or any other noise from the corridor. Decor was modern, clean and comfortable. Our daughter who lives in Madrid, and who we were visiting, was ready to move in with us! She loved the roof terrace and hot tub. The lounge areas on the ground floor are spacious and well designed with lots of corners you could meet up with friends in. Good selection at the buffet breakfast although the coffee could have been a little better. The reception staff were all charming, friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again next time we visit Madrid but I fear our daughter is about to move to Valencia - if so would look to see if this hotel group have hotels there. Hotel is also only a short walk to Sol, Plaza Mayor, all the major art galleries and Retiro Park, lots of bars and restaurants nearby.

Room Tip: Street side rooms are light and any traffic noise only if you open the window.

Dear Madam,

Thank you very much for your nice and long review. On the other hand, do not worry if your daughter moves to Valencia. If she finally does, our Company does have a hotel in Valencia: the hotel Catalonia Excelsior ***. It is located in the real heart of the city, near the City Hall. Thank you again for your compliments. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Regards.

First impression was lovely modern hotel & didn't disappoint. We had a room on the 6th floor opposite the lift & despite previous comment we didn't hear a thing from other guests. Room was spacious & loved the double sinks in the bathroom, water pressure for shower was excellent. The step up to the balcony was a bit testing & just glad we had no mobility problems otherwise couldn't have made it out there. Tea/coffee facilities arrived late & were not replenished - afraid I do like a coffee on the balcony in the morning. Very impressed with the way the receptionist dealt with a young boy who came in to beg from us & although he turned nasty she kept calm & turfed him out. Would return & would recommend.

Dear guest,

We are very glad you had a nice stay overall. Regarding the fact the tea was not replaced, we apologize for the inconvenience. The tea & coffee facilities in our Superior rooms and Junior Suite room is something relatively new and the maids still forget to replace it sometimes. We will transmit this information to the Housekeeper. Thank you very much for your comprehension and for your kindness. Best regards from Madrid.
