“Your kids will love this restaurant”

This place is clearly quite fashionable in Madrid but the food is good rather than great. If we had brought our children with us (aged 9 and 5) they would have loved it as the food is presented in lots of fun ways. One pudding comes to the table with a flask of bubbling liquid nitrogen and you get to stir the bowel to make your own ice cream. Arrive early, we got there at 9.45 and had to wait for 45 minutes for a table.

“Thanks Anthony Bourdain!”
Reviewed August 13, 2012

Saw this restaurant on No Reservations decided to check it out on my first trip to Madrid. Great atmosphere, locals dining and our waiter Jose was the best we've had. We ordered the house red wine, fabulous and inexpensive (ended up ordering two bottles). First plates we had were the chicken nuggets and OMG they somehow managed to remove the bone from a chicken wing and inject it with a savory sauce, my boyfriend described it as an inside out chicken wing...to die for. We also oree the burratta which was a perfect mix of savory and sweet. Next we ordered the truffle egg potato which is as delectable as it looked on the show...big enough for us to share as well as the hot dog with crispy onions on top...YUM. We also enjoyed the potato and meat layered dish and the beef cheek which was melt in your mouth delicious. Each item was delicioso. Thanks for a great meal and wonderful experience!

“Fun, fun, fun.”
Reviewed June 16, 2012

When friends from out of town requested a lively place to eat with a decent wine list, I immediately thought of La Gabinoteca. There are no advance reservations, so you have to show up early to put your name on the list. They will not seat you until your whole party arrives (read: do not go here with your compulsively late friends). While I waited for the rest of my party, I grabbed a seat at the bar and order the strawberry mojito (excellent and refreshing). When everyone else got there, we were quickly seated. Everything we ordered was delicious and interesting. Our friends from the US were highly amused by some of the twists on American classics like the chicken nuggets and hotdog. The wine selection was good, a little of everything. The atmosphere was indeed lively, but at no time was it hard to hear conversation at the table. Service was very fast and we never had to chase down our waiter. Will definitely come here again and again.
