We had a lovely stay at Ferraz apartment. It is situated in a great location. Mary was so welcoming and gave us lots of suggestions for day trips, places of interest and places to eat, which were all very valuable and added to our Madrid experience.
The property has lots of character but it is on the fourth floor, with no lift so people need to consider this if they have mobility issues. We managed fine with it.
We'd love to return.
The Ferraz is a very good apartment in a great location.
Located on the western edge of central Madrid, the Ferraz is five minutes to the excellent Madrid Metro and the Parque del Oeste with its Egyptian temple, the Debod.
It's fully equiped, with everything you'll need in the kitchen and laundry - including a dish rack and a clothes airer, items often missing in European holiday rentals.
With the recently installed air conditioning, it will be comfortable in Madrid's hottest months too.
Be aware that it's on the fourth floor (fifth for Americans), with no lift (elevator) so don't pack too much and leave just a little in the tank when you're out sight seeing so you can make it home OK. You'll be repaid with a good selection of eateries and a friendly welcome from Mary, the owner.
Mary's apartment is very well located in Madrid and very well appointed, only a short walk to the metro or into the centre itself (about 10mins) and a number of supermarkets and cafes nearby. The beds are extremely comfortable and Mary had thought of everything we may need for our stay. The bottle of wine and chocolates left for us was most welcome after a long journey! Nothing was too much trouble, she was extremely helpful when communicating prior to our visit and also during our time there. My son was travelling alone to the apartment and I met him there later. Mary made sure we had all the details to provide to the taxi driver (or to use public transport) and met us both to help us settle in. Despite being on the fourth floor I never found the stairs an issue. We will certainly book again if we return to Madrid and a huge thanks to Mary - it was a a real pleasure to meet you, your customer care is second to none!
The apartment had everything we required for our stay. Mary was a brilliant host and she made sure we found it easy enough. We would definitely recommend the apartment. Easy access to the metro station at Arguelles. Plenty of supermarkets and lots of great places to eat.
I booked through Trip Adviser good use of messaging system, and good communication from owner through email.
Depending on how you area arriving owner will advise best route.
We arrived by train taxi from station cost 12 Euros. Taxi stooped right outside of building as promised owner was waiting after buzzing apartment enters through door. You can hail a taxi right outside the apartment.
Having read other reviews I must stress that this is a top floor apartment with no lift, there are 8 flights 11 steps per flight. My husband carried his own case but the owner kindly carried my case.
It’s a lovely flat nice lounge with dining area and windows. TV and iPod doc which we used. The bed room is in the centre of the flat with no windows, this was not a problem for us because it was not overly hot, and we did shut windows / shutters during the day to keep the flat cool. The bedroom had plenty of storage.
Galley Kitchen with hob microwave kettle fridge freezer dish washer washing machine iron and ironing board with WIFI.
The bathroom was ok shower mixer taps over bath, towels
The owner Mary left Tea Coffee bread, biscuits butter milk and a bottle of Wine which was much appreciated.
This flat is a great position walkable to all attractions plenty of restaurants cafes and bars, with a supermarkets just up the street.
The owner Mary was welcoming and gave us a few tips and where were where in relation to the rest of the city.
I would recommend this flat however I must stress that the stairs could be a major deal for some.
While we liked the apartment, we had a few issues with the amenities:-
The bedroom has no window and therefor no ventilation. It was very warm in Madrid when we stayed and we had to leave street facing windows open, with a fan blowing in the bedroom when we tried to sleep.
The bathroom is off the kitchen!! There is no window and no extractor fan in the bathroom. As you may well imagine, it can be quite unpleasant not having any free flow of air in a bathroom at the best of times, but when it is directly off the kitchen, even more so!
There is a small step in the bathroom which is not easy to see at night-time. I had a nasty fall, having slipped off the step and then hitting my lower back very hard against the bidet.
The flat is also on the 4th floor and there is no elevator, which makes carrying heavy suitcases up and down the stairs a nightmare. There should be a warning about this.
