The Retiro Parc is one of many places to visit while in Madrid. It is a wonderful destination for a relaxing walk as well as a tourist attraction on its own. You may want to ensure you do not miss the Estanque Grande del Retiro (an ellegant semicircular terrace surrounded by colonades), the Palacio de Velazquez and the Palacio del Cristal, the Alcachofa Fountain and quite a few other statues and monuments scattered throughout the alleys and beautifully landscaped grounds.

The center of the park in Madrid and a great place to see entertaining acts and grab a snack from one of the vendors. Right in front of the man made lake.

Beautiful park in central Madrid, near all the attractions. Running in the morning with the sun rising (as it does late in Madrid) and the views of monuments across the rectangular pond is a special memory. Great way to see the locals out and about.

Safe, well populated, not too crowded, and lots of varied paths. About 3 miles for each loop around the outside, depending on where and when you cut through the middle.

Big park . Canoe lake. Art exhibitions for free in 2 places. Relaxing . Nice for picknic. Lovely tiled building. Make sure you have it on a map as you can get lost and disoriented.

We took a stroll through here on our first day in Madrid. Its a beautiful park and a sanctuary from the busyness of the city. The lake and statue are impressive. There are also a couple of historic buildings in the park and both had special exhibitions from Reina Sofia on show and entrance was free. A beautiful place to take some time out.
