I have amazing memories connected to this place as it is where I met my girlfriend for the first time, so I may be a little bias.

In the spring/summer/fall there is the possibility to do some paddle-boating in the little pond in the center of the park - very nice for couples and friends.

In the summer there are small turtles in the smaller ponds around the park. A lot of places for a nice picnic too.

When it gets warmer, there are a lot of stree performers around the park as well as crowds gathered around the best ones.

Plenty of students meeting for drinks/events here too.

Beautiful tree-lined paths, interesting landscaping, a lake with monuments (actually, monuments abound throughout the park), a central building often housing local artworks...these await in Retiro Park. It’s fall season and the ginkgoes glow yellow and the sycamores have a bit of color. The park is very (very) popular on the weekends...it’s like Central Park in NYC.

A large beautiful park for someone who loves the outdoors and gorgeous landscaping. Lots of activities especially during the weekend. Definitely worth a go.

We typically go on vacation in November and often miss the beautiful flowers of spring or late summer. This park has a mix of trees that blend yellows and oranges in a burst of color. Worth a walk through or around the park. There are many detours to explore to appreciate the size of this lovely landscape. Great for a family outing or romantic stroll.

Lovely park, lovely walk, you have to go out in the boating lake. Nice way to spend the afternoon. Cafes to sit and have coffee and watch the world go by

I had a lovely time walking through the expansive gardens with my mother. Lots of cafes and bars to stop and rest, and take in the sights and sounds. Well worth a visit.

Especially when you go off the beaten track! You can spend hours here, also working out. In November it’s only populated by locals, making it more authentic.

Surprisingly a very busy place can be very relaxing. Walking in the autumn colours of a sunny November day was a great break away from the hustle and bustle of Madrid's streets. Plenty of space to roam, rowing boats for the more energetic (and, a bit bizarrely, a reasonably sized motorized boat that takes you round the rectangular boating lake). We'll come back when the rose garden is in full bloom
Take in the art exhibitions, listen to the street musicians, hire a boat, jog or just amble round - lovely way to spend a few hours.
