This park is very beautiful and a welcome break from sightseeing and shopping. There are cafes near the boating lake and the cleanest underground public toilets of any city I have visited. There is even a wheelchair stairlift down to the toilets.

I loved it here. A cafe, amazing sangria and pasta. Garden views everywhere. A nice pond that you can take a mini rowboat and enjoy the view from the water, or take a ride in a powered leisure boat. Musicians playing in the park just add to the ambiance! Visit briefly or stay all day. Take a zillion pictures!!

Spent a few hours here walking around, sitting and rented a boat on the lake. It was a nice sunny day in November so the park looked beautiful with the autumn leaves. It was clean with a play area, walks in the woods, and paved around the lake. Stalls with places to eat and buy a souvenir or 2. Lovely park in the middle of a busy city!

Anyone who visits Madrid should Visit Retiro Park. Such a beautiful and well kept park, we went on the row boats for €6 For us both for 45 minutes, the sun was shining and it was gorgeous. Also the glass building was absolutely stunning , lots of places to get refreshments

This is a fairly large park within the central area of Madrid. It has several very wide, paved avenues that allow for long walks. It is also frequented by bikers and runners, and folks in skates.

Great for a stroll or to walk around and check out the many musicians in the area. This is a favorite home for many street musicians. Nice place to take a little time out and enjoy a little slower pace.

We went on a Monday after almost a week of sightseeing top spots. It was a relaxing place to stroll around. We walked around the lake where you could rent a boat. There were musicians set up in different areas - a saxophonist, violinist, etc. which were entertaining. There are numerous fountains and statues in different areas of the park. We even found found the old zoo ruins listed on Atlas Obscura.com.

This is a can't miss in Madrid. Like Central Park in NYC, you can enter Retiro Park and forget that you are in a city at all. You can't even hear the traffic. It is beautiful, but enormous. No way you can see the whole park in one visit if you are taking the whole thing in. You can walk from one end to the other in about 30-45 minutes. The lake is beautiful and peaceful. On a nice day you can row around in a small boat. The architecture throughout the park is breathtaking as is the scenery. Gorgeous trees and paths everywhere. If you lived in Madrid you would probably want to spend every weekend here. It's also a great place for college kids to spread out and get some reading/studying done in a quiet and peaceful place. This is a park you will never get tired of. It's a Madrid must see.
