We were not able to go inside as they were setting up for another installation but the outside is beautiful. The place is a tourist trap though, lots of people and vendors around the whole things.

We had a wonderful afternoon exploring Retiro Park with our two boys 3 & 15. There’s was so much to do from a lovely boat ride, playing in one of the many children’s play areas. The cafes along next to the boating lake are fantastic we ate lunch at one of them then went back for dink’s and ice cream after the rowing boats.

I wasn't too bothered about visiting here, but my wife had said she would like to see it. What a great decision (hers, not mine!)
This is what a park should be. Lawns, gardens, statues, cafes, buskers, etc. etc.
It was good to see so many events happening. Some were official, others spontaneous.
There was so much to see and do that it is difficult to condense it down to a few words. But.........
If in Madrid - Visit!!!!

Walking around the park is lovely. It is beautiful and peaceful. When you get to the center by the lake, it does get busy. The food around there isn't good but there is plenty to drink. There was a stag do there when we visited so it was loud. It is very touristy, meaning there are plently of men walking around trying to sell you things and play you music for money.

If I was to recommend one place for you to visit while in Madrid it would be here, there’s nothing not to like

This park is right in the centre of Madrid, and is an ideal place to visit, especially when the weather is good. The park is massive with a very large pond, numerous monuments, fountains and flower beds. It is a good way of spending a relaxing hour or two, and the locals obviously love it. There are many avenues to walk along. It is quite a stress free activity, and well worth a visit.

Retiro is so big it has sections like Central Park in NYC. There is an artificial lake you can boat on, a garden with free-ranging peacocks, a crystal palance, a botantical garden, and on an on.... Beautifully laid out and one of the great city parks of the world.

The park looks absolutely stunning in the Autumn - if you are around Madrid this is a must! It was bank holiday in Madrid and there were quite a few people around and even though it didn't feel crowded. Amazing day out!
