We stayed here in May for 3 nights and loved it! The location could not have been much better and the hotel itself was beautiful. The breakfast buffet was awesome but would only recommend if included with the room.

Location location!!! Very convenient for sightseeing. You can see the Prado museum from the hotel window. The room is traditional with a nice touch of modern bathroom. The service is superb especially the concierge service, Alejandro, was able to get us a table at Michelin star restaurant at the Sergi Arola which was excellent (if you want a 49 euro lunch,go on Tuesday to Friday, otherwise,it is between 105 to 135). For the best Paella, go to Casa Benigna, again by the recommendation of the concierge. From Madrid, we took a day trip to Toledo which is amazing. It is about 30 min by Renfe train from the Atocha train station which is 5 min taxi ride from the hotel. There is no swimming pool in the hotel. A small but adequate modern treadmils with TV but it is better to walk outside to explore. There is a sauna. Did not use spa. Buffet breakfast was adequate. The high tea was nice sitting in the garden but small sandwich and scones were not special. Overall, it is a good hotel with great service but the breakfast and the high tea food could get some improvement . The concierge service bring the hotel from 4 to 4.5 star.

We stayed here on a romantic break to Madrid last year and this charming, luxury hotel evokes a sense of glamour and old-Hollywood, and it was indeed one of the most renowned hotels in Europe during it's heyday, Grace Kelly even stayed here on her Honeymoon!

However, the hotel is a little dated and tarnished these days, yet still comfortable and luxurious. In fact one of the things that I loved about the hotel was that it has retained many of it's old features, such as the beautiful wooden check-in counter where you can literally picture Ava Gardner or Ernest Hemingway (both past guests) checking in many years ago! The location of the Ritz Madrid sets this hotel apart as it faces the Prado Museum and is just steps from the beautiful Parco de Retiro and many other highlights in this beautiful city. The room we stayed in was very comfortable, if a little small, with a small terrace overlooking the Prado. The breakfast was excellent and we were well looked after during our stay. We enjoyed massages in the spa but don't expect comprehensive fitness equipment and there is no pool. However in a city like Madrid there is so much to see and do that you will not want to spend all of your time in your hotel.

The Ritz Madrid is the perfect hotel for it's location and charm but do not expect a hotel of US or Asian 5-star standards but it is lovely place to stay.

We stayed at this property based on a recommendation from our travel agent and bot was he right!!! All I have to say is from when we landed our private chauffeur was waiting for us at the airport where he took us directly to the hotel. Our bags were taken care of also. Our room was fit for royalty! Everything was over the top luxurious. The staff was over the top friendly and made our stay very welcomed. The food was the best I have ever had in my life. We were truly spoiled to the point that we did not want to leave.

Sightseeing is a must and if you love history a week is not enough. There are dozens of museums everywhere. Shopping is also a grand event anywhere you go in this cosmopolitan city. The Plaza has something for everyone. The night life is excellent since everything is open till after 2AM. The only thing I had a minor problem was siesta time. From noon till about 3PM everything shuts down, but hey I guess they have to rest also, LOL.

Lastly I would come back here in a heartbeat. Well worth every penny if you can afford it that is. A vacation to truly remember, thank you.

Room Tip: It's well worth the price for the city view as opposed to the balcony or garden view.

If you're going to be a five-star player, you gotta act like one, and the Ritz Madrid falls short of that. I have no doubts that this was THE place in Madrid at one time, but that was quite a long time ago. Several major miscues by the concierge staff could have been overlooked (including sending a car to the airport for us the day BEFORE we were scheduled to check in --- then making us wait 30 minutes on the day we arrived while they dispatched one) if not for other staff errors and the lack of service and warmth one expects from five stars. Even checking out makes one wonder who takes care of staffing --- there was one harried staffer with a line of anxious checkouts while two concierges were engaged in some kind of animated discussion (why do you need more than ONE concierge at 8:00 a.m.?). Rooms are small, OLD (the a/c system definitely not working well) and nothing special. I probably should have given it three stars but it gets an extra one for the location and the beautiful architecture in the public areas. Having said that, I'll definitely look for another property on my next trip to Madrid!
