A thoroughly elegant old world hotel. Service was exceptional and what was to be expected. The courtyard restaurant is a beautiful oasis in the heart of the city. Great for a glass of their delicious sangria in the shade after the Prado or shopping. You can walk to everything. Do not miss the formal tea. Dinner outdoors accompanied by the pianist provides the right blend of ambiance and elegance to a delicious 5 star meal. The concierge service was outstanding. Incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Security was appropriate and inconspicuous. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a first class experience in Madrid.

Just back from Madrid, and our stay the the Hotel Ritz was fabulous. Staff is impecable. After a long train ride, the Cava on ice and the cake in our room was quickly devoured. The view overlooking the Prado was spectacular. Breakfast was great, and again the service was above excellent.

Everything about this hotel was amazing. The staff, hotel, and food were all top-notch. From the concierge finding us tickets to Real Madrid v. Barcelona to the incredible breakfast buffet to the four-course meal we enjoyed in the restaurant, everything was amazing. This was the first stop on my wife and my honeymoon, and it couldn't have started better. Great job.

We walked into the Ritz Madrid to the most spectacular floral displays in celebration of Valentines Day. The Roses in my room ordered by my husband were of the finest quality as was the bed linen. The service is utterly superb. For example, at the breakfast buffet I asked the chef if butter was on the table. He said that it was but came over to check which was amazing enough and actually the butter was not there. He rushed into the kitchen to get me some and arrived back moments later to find that an enterprising waiter had already found some. Now thats what I call service. The concierge service is great and their rcommendations were spot on. In particular Alejandro was great. The treatments at the spa were great So oh what a shame that both the rooms that they gave us were un-refurbished and tired. The rooms were large but the bathrooms very tiny and the first room did not even have a separate shower. This grand Dame needs to go to the beauty salon!

We stayed in this wonderful hotel for four glorious days-- everything was perfect-- the lovely suite, the service, the food,-- everything. Expensive, but well worth the money. Our suite was spacious, beautifully appointed, and extremely comfortable.

Room Tip: We loved our suite--407--

My wife and I spent 3 nights in The Ritz Madrid early in January. It was fabulous. We arrived early but were warmly greeted and given a coffee while our room was sorted. I was informed that we were to be upgraded at no cost for our final 2 nights and that we were most welcome in the hotel. I t was a generous and unsolicited gesture. It is a grand and old-world place with exquisite furnishings and friendly staff.
We can't wait to go back. We also thought Madrid was a beautiful place to visit.

While the Hotel Ritz in Madrid is a "Grand Hotel" in the old school sense, there is nothing stiff or old fashioned about the friendly, efficient service, the technology available, or the wonderful food you will eat. I can't imagine a better location in Madrid! It is steps away from the Prado, the Theissen, countless sites of interest, and a few glorious parks. If you like to walk, it is also near the beautiful Madrid train station, where side trips to Toledo and El Escorial are only an hour away!! The public spaces are so elegant and refined that I half expected Edward VII to walk in with his latest mistress! The food is also top notch...In the lobby "Terrace" you can eat splendid food, in opulent surroundings, in your jeans and sneakers. Restaurant Goya is very romantic and listed as one of the finest restaurants in Madrid with good reason. Room service is a pleasure. We used and enjoyed it every day for breakfast and the occassional dinner when we were exhausted. As you would expect, food arrives in your room in minutes, on silver platters accompanied by fresh flowers. We had a suite in one of the round towers which overlooked the Prado and a small park...very pretty view! Our room was VERY SPACIOUS, but not quite as comfortable as a room in a modern hotel. The shower was extemely small even for me (I am 5 feet tall!) and the room decor was a bit dreary, even though it was immaculate. Unlike the Gritti Palace and other historic hotels, room "antiques" look like repros and are a bit disappointing. It took us a day to get "into" the place because we arrived after staying in the stylish Hotel Arts in Barcelona. Once we adjusted, however, we really had a great time! The staff and service is outstanding! We stopped by the Palace Hotel across the street to check it out and we prefer the Ritz because it has a more authentic Grand Hotel ambiance. The Ritz is very pricey, but you are getting a bit of history with your stay. If you don't mind a few minor inconveniences, it is a memorable experience!

Room Tip: Suites in the round tower have views of the Prado...
