I didn't use the amenities because I was so busy with my tour. The room was superb, and the bed was SO comfortable.. Also, there were pillow choices. The breakfast buffet had everything a person could want from fresh fruit to yogurt to breads snd sweet rolls to Eggs Benedict... The location was Excellent!!! Easy access to museums and shopping. Many restaurants and Tapas restaurants close.

The Westin Palace is a traditional luxury hotel in the American style. In a wonderful old building with a grand lobby with wide stairs behind this hotel will appeal to the traditionalist.

The doors to the rooms in the corridor are dark wood and in keeping with the traditional look of the hotel.

The room I stayed in was a good size decorated in light brown/beige relaxing colours. The bed was comfortable as is to be expected from a Starwood hotel. The furniture was in dark wood with a relatively small television. There was plenty of storage space in wardrobes. The bathroom had a marble double sink, separate toilet and a good shower. The air-conditioning was quiet.

Breakfast is served in a large dining room with high ceilings and not much natural light. The staff are very traditional as is the selection of food served. There is no shortage of choice but the food was OK not noteworthy.

Not surprisingly the hotel appears to attract americans and tour parties and certainly when I stayed there was little sign of younger people.

Overall this is a traditional high end, comfortable hotel. For those looking for a more modern, bright and state of the art, luxury hotel then this is probably not it

I stayed here for 3 nights prior to taking a river cruise through Spain and Portugal and it
was excellent. The staff were very gracious and helpful. The food is very good and portions are generous. Rooms are very large and beds very comfortable. I enjoyed staying here and would do so again. Worth the extra money for such a lovely place.

Room tip: Above the 8th floor on the corners.

I've stayed in this hotel many times for both work and pleasure. The Palace hotel faces the Neptune fountain and is waking distance from most touristic destinations. Enjoy a cultural experience in museums like El Prado, and Reina Sofia, people watching is the Retiro park and la Puerta de Alcala, shopping in La Gran Via y La Puerta del Sol and history lessons in La Plaza Major. The rooms are very comfortable for work and lounge and there are many restaurants and tapa bars in the vicinity.

Room tip: I always prefer to stay in rooms that face the Neptune fountain
