The Palace is my wife's favorite hotel in Madrid, and for good reason. It reminds me of the old Waldorf-Astoria in NYC. It has an elegance and charm that only a historic hotel like this can have. We had a beautiful, large, upgraded room with a view of the Fountain. The Heavenly bed is just that, king size and heavenly. The bathrooms are large and lavishly equipped. The location could not be better! Minutes from the Prado, Thyssen and Sofia museums. 10 minutes walk to the wonderful Mercado de San Miguel (our favorite place for tapas in Madrid). 15 minutes walk to the Royal Palace. And when you want to relax in the afternoon or at the end of the day, a drink at the bar in the rotunda is grand and wonderful! This is our third time, and we have never been disappointed. The service is very prompt and professional and the concierge extremely helpful with recommendations, directions and reservations.
