Great location,a stone's throw from the PRADO and halway between the park Retiro and La Puerta del Sol,so whatever may be your interest you are within easy walking distance.
We sepnt 4 nights and all our visiting, dining and shopping was done on foot
Excellent service, smiles all around and a real welcome feeling, despite a few slips up by
info given by the concierge.
Large room with an amazing amount of drawers and closet space, comfortable queen bed.,
Enjoyed starting the day with the complimentary coffe delivered to the room upon request .
What made our stay particularly special was the saturday evening meal
under the glass coupole with a marriage under way, followed the next day by the brunch.
It was fun seeing Madrid at it's best.
No pool nor terrace ( small roof terrace closed during our stay), my wife smokes
and would have appreciated that the roof terrace be open

I do suggest having a drink in the lounge area even if your not staying in the hotel

Room Tip: Few room with balconies, I was told that only the suite have balconies so we lucked out.

Stayed at the end of October 2012 for five days. Perfect location. Take the Bus Express from the airport till Plaza de Cibeles and walk about five minutes along the beautiful Paseo del Prado, the hotel is right in front of you. Here, you will be greeted by the doorman who will take your bags immediately. Highly professional, friendly and helpful staff .Beautiful architecture and decoration. It was such a pleasure to have breakfast under the spectacular glass dome! You won't have a kettle and coffee/tea bags in the room,..Instead you will have your complimentary coffee/tea and cookies served elegantly to your room by the Express Service. Ask for a room overlooking the Fuento de Neptuno which is one of the three most beautiful fountains in Madrid. This is a very busy hotel in a very lively area of Madrid....the Parliament, Prado, Thyssen-Bornemisza, Reina Sophia Museums and many of the attractions are all around the century old Palace..

Hotel was very nice and impressive.
The Lobby and the great glas dome where faszinating.
If you are in Madrid you should at least have a look into it.
The food was not that what I expected from a 5 Star Hotel....

We have stayed here three times, and it really is so comfortable that we aren't tempted to stay anywhere else. The wonderful beds, the beautiful rooms and the peace and quiet are the attractions. You never hear your neighbours, and everywhere is thickly carpeted including the corridors.
We had trouble checking in this time. I had Emailed the hotel that morning giving our time of arrival and room preference. I had a reply before we left home saying all was OK. We arrived mid evening and the check in clerk could find no trace of my Email. It took him 15 minutes to find us a room, even though we were the only people checking in at the time. Why do we bother? This is a five star hotel....
On this visit we did not pay for the buffet breakfast. It was 38 euros last year, so I don't know what it costs now. That is 76 euros for two. We couldn't possibly eat enough to justify this extortionate amount. Perhaps everyone else is on business expenses. There are plenty of local cafes where you can have a very cheap continental breakfast.
The same goes for having drinks in the hotel. There is a street alongside which is full of wonderful atmospheric bars - cervecerias with tapas - which charge a fraction of the Palace's prices.
Having said all this, I'm sure we will return to the Palace on a room only basis. All the major museums and galleries are right on the doorstep.

Room Tip: To ensure absolute peace and quiet, ask for an inward facing room. You may lose the Madrid views, b...

I spent the night in Madrid by myself (waiting for friends to arrive the next day) and was looking for luxury accommodations in a central location (so I wouldn't have to go far to visit the main sights of the city). This hotel was perfect. You couldn't ask for a better location. The rooms were beautiful and extremely comfortable. I spent the day touring museums/shopping etc. and went back to the hotel in the evening, had a wonderful massage at the spa, and lounged in my room enjoying a filet and some wine from room service. Perfection! The second night (once my friends had arrived) was just as enjoyable...we went out for dinner but came back for drinks at the hotel bar. A lovely experience!

Great location, the staff is second to none, BEAUTIFUL HOTEL!!! The beverages in the bar were quite expensive compared to the surrounding area - so we went to the bars that were so close. Madrid is an amazing city and this hotel is located right where you want to be.

This a grand old hotel housed in a beautiful building in a great part of Madrid. The hotel and rooms need a fecelift however. Service is good although slightly impersonal more because it is a big hotel. Beds are great and comfortable since they are the typical Westin heavenly beds. Rooms are on the small side (but probably typical for European standards). We paid extra to upgrade to a junior suite since a typical room is too small for 2 adults and 2 children. They have a gorgeous restaurant but buffet breakfast was ridiculously expensive (about 65 dollars/person). For food go in the neighborhoods behind hotel where you will find typical local restaurants where the Madrilenos eat. If you like pastries/juices there is a cafe across the street from the main entrance that has great croissants and some of the best pain-au-raisin outside Paris.
