Everything you could want in a luxury hotel, beautful property and attentive staff. Close to most tourist sites including the Prado. The lobby cocktail lounge is a treat, they will make you the best sangria ever.

The Westin Palace, Madrid was our "home" for six days on our recent trip to Spain. This hotel far exceeded our expectations. From the location to the concierge staff the Westin has it all. It is situated near the Prado, Thyssen, Park Ritero, Atoche, and terrific dining and shopping. Everything is accessible within walking distance. The staff was excellent! The concierge took care of our train tickets, bullfight experience, and dining recommendations and reservations in a friemdly and highly professional manner. The room we stayed in was beautifully appointed; large and spacious, with wonderful ammenities. We loved the personalized coffee service each morning. I would most definitly recommend the Westin Palace and will be sure to return here.

I am pleased that the hotel has raised its standards but kept pricing reasonable, especially since this is its 100 anniversary year. My last review was critical of the breakfasts - well not any more. The breakfasts were perfect. Excellent service by attentive and friendly staff accompanied a well stocked and varied buffet. Eggs to order - I had Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon a couple of times - brilliant. If you want good coffee ask for espresso with warm milk, otherwise they will serve American style coffee which is too insipid for my taste. And all this served under the spectacular glass dome in the main salon. Also had dinner here a couple of times, and the food, wine, and service were all excellent. The room, on the 5th floor, was very comfortable and spacious overlooking the fountain in the plaza below. The air conditioning however was ineffective - but opening the windows now and again solved the problem of stuffiness. Wired and wi-fi internet access was fast, something I cannot say about most hotels these days. I made use of their well equipped gym a few times. Of course the laundry costs are astronomical - it is actually cheaper to buy new socks and underwear than have them laundered! On my last visit to Madrid I stayed at The Ritz across the road, but I think the Westin Palace has the edge.

My husband and I visited Madrid in October to celebrate our anniversary. The Westin Palace Hotel is all you would expect from a Westin hotel. It is a beautiful property with an excellent staff and large comfortable rooms and lots of amenities. It is in a great location within walking distance to the Prado and Thyssen museums, Retiro Park, great shopping streets, lots of cafes and very near Plaza Mayor. We would definitely stay here again.

My partner and I stayed four nights at the Place in mid-October which is a great time to visit Madrid for cooler weather and smaller crowds. It presents a premier location for all of the tourist sites and is walking distance to most of the attractions as well as some very nice dinning.
I dislike paying for internet service but the hotel does provide free wi-fi in the lobby areas as well as free access to a very good business center with printing services for things like boarding passes and updated attraction hours and directions.
A very nice touch is the offer to deliver coffee without the customary room service charge once a day... fast and delicious!
Here is my beef for a hotel that has just finished renovations for the celebration of it's first 100 years. This hotel presents significant challenges for older people and those with disabilities. There are stairs and no ramp to get in the front door which frequently lacks a doorman. Next is a steep flight of stairs to get to the elevator access area after completing check-in. It was a frequent site to see people struggle with bags or a cain to pass through these areas.
A trip for more budget minded travelers: attached to the hotel and next to the Starbucks is an excellent connivence for snacks or a bottle of wine at a fraction of what you would spend in the hotel. It also has a very good restaurant attached to the store with excellent breakfast for less than 5 euro.

Room Tip: Interior rooms are very quiet and offer the opportunity to open a window for some fresh air

Dear Tripadvisor
Thank you for your nice review. The hotel is classified as “historic building” – On October 12th we celebrated our 100th anniversary
From an architectural point of view this means that by law we are very limited in adding ramps. At the main entrance we have 3 steps and added some hand rails
Apart from the flight of stairs to and from the elevators area there is another elevator that allows guests to avoid the stairs but the elevator is in the back of the house a few steps from the lobby.
One of our associates can help you to access. We will improve the signage of this additional access. Thank you for bringing this to my attention
Best personal regards

Recently stayed at the Westin Palace Hotel in Madrid for two nights in October 2012. The hotel celebrated it's 100th birthday this year. It is located in a fantastic location. Easy walk to the Prado and Retiro park. Also, there are many wonderful restaurants in the immediate vicinity. The room was large and comfortable for an older hotel. The decor is relaxed and elegant. I was pleasantly surprised how large the bathroom was in our room. There was a large tub/shower with a rain shower head, double vanity with plenty of counter space for toiletries, and a separate area for the toilet. The bed was indeed heavenly as advertised. My only gripe was the price for internet access in the room. It was extremely cheap for something that is lightly used when traveling. Obviously, they are trying to make revenue from corporate travelers that have no choice and can expense the cost over the vacationer who needs to email back home or get some local info. There is free wifi in the lobby fortunately, but that can be somewhat of a hassle when you just need to do a quick email check or map out a restaurant for dinner. For the American coffee junkie, there is a Starbucks located in the same building just around the corner from the main entrance. Oddly, the free wifi from the hotel works there, so grab some coffee and surf.

Room Tip: This is a large hotel, so a room closer to the elevator bank might save a bit of walking.

Have stayed a number of times since the 90's at The Palace, but had not been to Madrid for a few years and was a bit concerned when we booked as The Palace is now part of a chain. Very glad to report that it will still be our hotel of choice in Madrid. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. The breakfasts - albeit pricey - are still wonderful - and served under that magnificent dome!! We ate twice in The Asia Gallery and on both occasions our food was delicious - and the setting beautiful.
Location of The Palace is perfect - close to most of the museums, Retiro Park and other sites as well as many good restaurants within walking distance.
Looking forward to our next stay!
