This was a great place in the center part of the city for walking in all directions. We would definitely stay here again. Breakfast was wonderful each morning. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Beds were firm and perfect for sleeping. We asked for a quiet room and were very happy with the one that we received.

This is a nice hotel marvellously situated in the heart of Madrid a stones throw from shops, tourist attractions and restaurants. We had no view at all which was a bit of a shame and we regretted not requesting a change when we first arrived as it was not full when we were there. A room at the front of the hotel with a balcony would have been nice but no doubt would have been more money (we got this entire trip with our Avios). Breakfast was excellent, with good food and great service. The room was large and although the bathroom was narrow it was adequate for the 5 days we were there. One issue we had was lack of available sockets for charging phones, cameras etc. Beds were nice and firm, just how I like them and everything was clean. We were close to the lift and stairs so had a bit of banging and people walking around outside. There was no tea and coffee making equipment in the room but we asked and it was provided straight away so we could have our early morning beverage. The hotel arranged our airport shuttle which worked great and, oddly, was a much quicker journey than the taxi we took to get there. Wonder why that was?

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front with a balcony.

We had a fantastic long weekend here. The hotel is located 3 mins from Sol and 10 min from many other places of interest. It is perfect for evenings with restaurants in all directions very close.
I recommend paying to upgrade to a terrace on the top floor, we had two hours sunbathing each day after sight seeing, not many city centre hotels you can do that!
Many people have complained of noise but by having the top floor terrace overlooking the street we experienced no noise at all and slept right through!
The room was spacious and a decent bathroom.
The breakfast was fine with both cooked and cereals and croissants etc.
Staff all polite and helpful.
Overall, for a good city centre hotel at a decent price you would struggle to do better.

Room Tip: Top floor terrace was worth the upgrade.

Just returned from 5 night stay at Carlos V. Hotel has a perfect location close to all tourist attractions as well as restaurants, cafes and shops. Requested a quiet room so was situated on back side of hotel - view was not good but room was quiet and not much time spent in room anyway. Room and bathroom were small but neat and clean. The only negative thing was very uncomfortable beds. Comfortable lounge area on 1st floor and very friendly, accommodating staff. Would stay there again.

Carlos V, is perfectly located, with friendly staff and clean neat rooms.
The Hotel is extremly close to many famous sightseeing experiences, Royal Palace, Retiro Park, SOL, Plaza Espanol and many more.....

Metro train station stop are only steps away, and the Area is extremly exciting, I would recommend the Carlos V to everybody, one minor drawback is the street noise, but we enjoyed it as part of the experience

Room Tip: If you are Madrid, Carlos V is the place to stay, very close and exciting place. We had a room with...

Just back from 4 nights staying at Carlos V. If you want a centrally located hotel you could not have better, however beware the noise. We were at the front on the 4th floor and noise all night long from pedestrians, shop deliveries. Hotel was very clean and offered a good breakfast. Rooms are basic with very small bathrooms (room 406) but then you get what you pay for

We stayed here on the first leg of our Spain trip. The hotel was in a great location, near and within walking distance to great shopping, tourist attractions and public transportation. The hotel was clean and had wifi which enabled us to check information from our smartphones. Even though it was centrally located it was off the beaten track and we did not hear any noise from the street.
