Owner description: The Sorolla Museum preserves the original atmosphere of both home and study of the painter Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida (Valencia, 1863 - Cercedilla, 1923). It houses the richest collection of his works, colourful paintings irradiating light and vitality. It is one of the more complete and best preserved artist homes remaining in Europe. The garden, also designed by himself, is a beautiful oasis in the city.

“Wonderful museum and garden”

museum formerly the home of painter joaquin sorolla. much of it still as it was when he and family lived there. beautiful paintings and his private collections + insights into his work. exquisite garden. a little out of centre but worth the effort as a counterpoint to the gig three art museums

“Lovely little museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2013 via mobile

Went 2 days in a row...Saturday on my own, then Sunday (free!!) with some others. A true gem! If you are not familiar with Juan Sorolla, he was a Spanish painter from the early 1900's (Impressionist) The museum is the house where he lived his last 13 years. It is easy to overlook from the street, but don't miss it. It takes between 1-2 hours to see everything, very manageable if you are presses for time.

“A true jem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2013

This small museum was beautiful, peaceful, and lovely. Unlike the big museums where sometimes you get lost, this place was perfect, and in my opinion - the best in Madrid. We loved both the house itself and the art. Don't miss it!!
