Great hotel for a business user or a tourist not looking for 5 star luxury, historic building renovated and turned into a modern hotel. Located right next to a nice square and loads of characterful bars and restaurants.

The rooms vary greatly in style as its an old building, some rooms have NO windows, which can be good or bad depending on what you want. One room I had had a tiny bathroom....

Modern slightly functional feel may not be to everyones taste but it suited me fine.

Breakfast is self service, nothing phenomenal and a very uninteresting breakfast room. I'm a business traveller so I'm easily pleased but if you are on a leisure break and looking for upmarket service and a leisurely breakfast in nice surroundings then the plain breakfast room and self service buffet may disappoint you.

Only problem I have had in 3 visits is that they don't have feather pillows, just foam ones, and I don't like foam pillows...

Excellent front desk staff.

If you want a quiet room this hotel is a good choice because you can request one of the internal rooms with no windows. Very quiet!

Room Tip: The Internal rooms have no windows at all so are good for a quiet sleep.

Very good location (5 min walk to Sol), very good service, polite reception personal and housekeepers. The room is well designed and comfortable. Especially we liked the bed: wide and very comfortable. It was a little cold during taking shower because the bath is separated from the bathroom (in superior room) with glass door, which is half as short as bath.
Fresh and tasty food on breakfast, although choice is not very rich.
Generally very good hotel, worthy of 5 stars.

The location of the hotel was perfect We didn't use any transport, and just walked to the main sights.
They upgraded our room as a compliment, and we had a much larger room than we excpected! The room was nice, clean and spacious. It was well equipped, we had everything we needed. The bed was of a big size!
Free WiFi worked well. The staff were friendly and helping.
All in all, we had a very nice stay!

We stayed for 4 nights as a surprise for my husbands birthday. Hotel is very central and all the main sights from palace to prado museum can be reached on foot. Althought underground is also very close by which we used for getting to football grounds and bull ring etc. There are bars and restaurants all around with endless choices, we especially enjoyed tapas at Lateral located in plaza santa ana right next to the hotel,it was very good value. The restaurant attached to the hotel does great cocktails if your willing to pay a little extra. The hotel room itself was very nicely decorated with lovely finishing touches, lots of toiletries provided. The bed was huge, much larger than a UK king size! Nice bathroom and desk area which had windows opening to the inner court yard. This meant we had an internal room which I believe meant it was quieter than if located on outside. We were above the gym which meant we could hear people on the treadmill! Overall great hotel and very accomodating staff.

Wife and two small children stayed here in November 2011. Excellent location in MAdrid - close to everything yet tucked away in a desirable part of Madrd. We had the jun ior suite, which was very spacious, and very clean. Hardwood floors throughout, clean, well kept bathrooms and excellent service (5 star service, withouth feeling like they are on top of you). I would stay here again when i return to Madrd. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not facing the noisy street (my suite was facing a street which on the weekends could...

Our room was called the "superior" room but it felt pretty basic plus the slanted ceiling which offered no view was weird. It was over 300 bucks a night which I know in contrast to NYC is a steal but still didn't feel like the bargain it looked like online. The service was good and the people working there were very very good so I guess I would recommend it. The location was central but in a very very busy part of town. I had never been to Madrid and was hoping it would be a little more charming area than it was, but all things considered, a pretty good place to stay.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a suite if you swing it.
