“Decent clean hotel in a good central location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2013 via mobile

There where 6 of us on a stag do so hotel wasn't really of great concern to us.

Check in at the hotel was simple quick and straightforward, we where directed to our rooms.

Rooms seemed a bit on the smaller side, not tiny just a bit small, but there where 3 guys sharing the room in 3 separate beds. Rooms where clean, had adequate storage for the 3 of us. Bathroom was large enough and clean.

Rooms have a safe, mini bar, flat screen tv with all the usual local and international stations, and free wifi.

Hotel has a lovely roof top pool, cocktail bar and sun bathing area. Drinks are a bit on the priced side €12 a cocktail. €5 a beer.

Hotel seems to be in a central location close to grand via etc, there is a metro stop right outside the hotel.

All in all can't fault the hotel although all we really did was sleep there and head back out. .

I stayed here with my partner in July and it was honestly one thing after another to make our experience in the hotel awful. The staff do not care about the customers, the rooms are tiny, 2 times out of 4 our room wasn't even cleaned and we returned in the evening to find no new towels or bed sheets etc. the staff were unhelpful and our 'free wifi' didn't work the whole time we were there and they kept saying they were trying to fix it which was a lie. I stayed in room 307. There are loads of hotel in just as good a location and for much better value so I would save yourself the disappointment and find somewhere better.

Experience the aquarium - 2nd floor - you will never forget it
I was there last time when outside temperature was over 42 and that was amazingly refreshing
The terrace at the last floor is really nice and the pool is pure luxury in the heat of the Madrid summer.
Once you experience that hotel you always come back as the location is very convenient for shopping , theater, opera, tourism and you can do every thing by walking.

by the way There is a "Nemo" in the room - let see if you find it! it took me 12 minutes! to help you: its not on the walls!!!

Room Tip: one experience you have to share - try not to be alone - the bed is wide enough ;-)

This hotel is right outside the Metro station giving easy access from the airport and then across all of Madrid. The hotel itself is very good, with a couple of minor issues. Staff are very helpful and the beds comfortable. The big asset is the roof-top pool, which is a good size and has great views over the City.

The couple of issues are - we had a triple room which was just a twin room with and extra bed put in, making it too crowded, e.g. the desk was unusable as a result; and the Wi-Fi in the room was very poor (better in reception).

Awful hotel - NO WAY is this a 4-star hotel! Our room was small, dirty and noisy with water dripping constantly at the back of the room keeping us awake all night. The Wifi was not working and we found the hotel personnel unprofessional and uncaring. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Their strategy is to place you in a shabby room so you are forced to upgrade and pay more - unethical policy, SHAME ON YOU!

First the downside:
We booked a "Satandard Room" using Hotelopia. When we arrived we shown into a something marginally bigger than a shoe box. It was so small that you had to take it in turns to walk past the bottom of the bed.
As we were there for 5 days we ended paying 15 euros a night for an upgrade.
When I queried this it turns out that what Hotelopia call a standard room is in fact, an economy room.
So we payed to upgrade to a "Standard Room" - which was what you would expect from one.
It was large enough and had a great walk in shower.
Tip : to turn the shower on, lift the right hand side of the "chrome bar" that runs along the middle - took me ages to work that out. Doh!

The upside:
The hotel is in a fantasitic location. It is literally right outside Santo Domingo Metro stop (buy a 10 trip ticket for 12 euros and share the ticket) and about 2 minutes walk from Gran Via.
There are loads of resturants right outside. There is a supermarket opposite.
It really is pretty unbeatable in terms of location.
There is a mini bar in the room that takes 20 seconds to register a removal - so buy same size cans of beer/coke and do a quick shuffle and you have a fridge :-)
There is safe in the room abnd the air-con works - and its quiet enough to sleep with it on much to my wifes delight.
The hotel has a rooftop swimming pool which is great to cool off after a day trekking around the city - but whilst we always found somewhere to sit - in 5 days we didn't once get a sunbed.
There is a bar poolside that opens at 3pm - its a little pricey, but if you want a beer you can have one. Or a cocktail.
They also provide towels - so if you're travelling light no need to take your own.
So overall its a nice hotel - the staff were very friendly and helpful.
You can book a shuttel back to the airport for 13 euros each - which is handy.
I would recommend the hotel without hesitation for anyone explring Madrid.
(Don't miss the 5 beers for 3 euros at the all you can eat as the bargain of the city either.)
And finally - Madrid is a great city.

Room Tip: Don't book an economy room!

Once we familiarised ourselves with the area it dawned on us how very good and central the location was for the centre of Madrid. The metro was literally across the road from the hotel which made getting the metro from the airport to the hotel really easy and quite cheap compared to using a taxi. The room we booked was a queen size standard and although perfectly adequate for our use and to be fair the price we paid it was slightly small and dark with no view- but as I said we didn't exactly pay a fortune per night. Great bathroom facilities with really good shower. Bar staff were very good and the bar was pleasant to have a quiet
drink after a long day sightseeing. Excellent breakfast well worth the money although there are plenty places about if you'd rather eat out for breakfast. Dining room was closed while we were there for evening meals so not sure what the evening meal would be like but bar snacks are available. Good reception check out and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
