Amazing location! 30 yards from Gran Via, in front of a subway, 5 min walk to Royal Palace, 10 min to Puerta Del Sol.

Super easy to get to. Take Aeroporto Express bus (5 euro) to Plaza Cibelles then get on metro line 2 (Banco Espana station) to Santo Domingo station. The whole ride in about 20 mins.

Now the hotel: they have two wings old and new. Of course, all tourists get the old first. It's not bad, but the rooms are tiny and are 3 stars, not 4. The room missed basic things like a normal, handheld hair dryer (had that awful hose instead). No lotion, no hair conditioner, no qtips, but 2 shower caps were included!

Do whatever you can: stomp your feet, threaten bad review and you'll get upgraded. The new rooms are truly 4 stars with new everything. Rooftop pool is always full and it's rather small and VERY cold.

Don't eat breakfast there. Walk to Gran Via and you will see plenty of food options. Cafe & Te is okay. There are 3 Starbucks in the vicinity. For truly great culinary experience go to Mercado San Miguel!

I recommend this hotel for all the people that are going to spend a couple of days in Madrid as it is located at a SUPER location, close to the center, close to Gran Via, close to all the important sights, close to the theatres, close to the famous shopping streets, all at walking distance!!
It is a wonderful hotel, nice spacious rooms, nice swimming pool and a perfect place to spend your holidays.

The photos we saw of this hotel were entirely misleading. The hotel rooms are in dire need of refurbishment. It was like being thrown back to the 70s in a room that hadn't been updated since.

Breakfast was poor, but expensive. Hard to believe this hotel calls itself a 4-star. More like an average 2-star.

Avoid if possible.

I only got to this location after having to change hotels from Mercure Plaza de España, as they did not have any hardwood floored rooms to place us (my wife is quite allergic to carpets).
The hotel is centrally located, very near the Gran Via and all those pedestrians only streets (Calle Preciados, Calle Carmen, Plaza del Sol).
The room is of decent size and the bathroom's very modern and elegant. The shower was great and the back waterjet stream did the body good after a long day's walk around Madrid.
Breakfast buffet was pretty sorted and the selection was of good quality. The one thing I missed was the unavailability of eating banana (I guess they'd ran out that very specific day/time).
The front desk personel were very polite and efficient when it came to giving out information.
It was definetely a good surprise to find thisnhotel and I'll definetely come back next time I'm in Madrid.
