“Good location, great value”
Reviewed October 6, 2013

This property was nicely located near the Atocha station, making it easy to get to the airport, the metro and a simple arrival by train from Seville. It is a very modern, nicely decorated hotel with great amenities. The rooms were larger for European rooms, beds are hard and the shower is entirely glass. Not ideal if your travel partner doesn't want to see you shower!

The staff was friendly, there is a nice bar and the conference areas looked nice. There are two areas to the hotel which was a little odd as you have to take an elevator down, walk across and outside through a courtyard and then take another elevator to your floor. Worth it for the value as it's a nice, clean, hotel with great point redemption rates and low cash rates.

Surprised by some of the negative reviews on this hotel, my experience was very good in comparison. This was a reward stay and I got upgraded to a suite (which of course contributed to my good experience). Before I booked, I looked up prices and found rooms available from 60 Euros which I thought was very cheap for a Marriott hotel in a big city like Madrid. Anyways, check in was no problem, our room was on the 5th floor and was very nicely appointed with a modern large shower, a large king bed, flat screen tv, fridge and large outdoor patio. Our air con worked just fine, our internet connection worked as well (in the room, did not try from the lobby) and we found the room to be quiet both from other guests and from outside noises. Best part of the hotel is the location, only a couple blocks from Atocha which gets you access to the metro, bus, and long distance train service. Also, the location is rich with good restaurants and bars (unlike reported by another review). There was a great Asturian restaurant 2 blocks down Calle Delicias that were very generous with their tapas, and many other options on the short walk back to the Atocha train station. Puerta Sol is only 3 metro stops away.
We enjoyed our short 1 night stay here and would be happy to stay longer if we had the time.

Travel tip: catch the yellow bus from Atocha train station for a direct trip to Barajas airport for only 5 euros a person. The bus runs 24/7. Otherwise it's around 35 euros for a taxi from the hotel.

If you are coming in by train and need something nearby, this is perfect, though nobody could direct us there. We were flying out the next day and were able to catch the airport bus at the train station. The desk staff were cold and not terribly helpful, but the rooms, though small, were very modern and actually fun- even funky. Good breakfast.

We booked this hotel because we arrived in Madrid very late at night and needed to be in Barcelona the next day, so we wanted to be close to Atocha Station. Our biggest disappointment was that the A/C did not worked and we didn't think we would get any assistance in time that late (1am) so we just moved around our bed to get closer to ventilation. We are okay with aspects of the hotel, just a bit surprised that this is a Marriott property when the TV is in majority spanish programs.

Tip: the NH hotel is much closer if you arrive late at night and the side door of Atocha is closer (which is exactly so in our case). From Atocha Cercanias it is a very long walk

The hotel is very close to the train station which was convenient as we were only staying one night and flying out after therefore needed easy access to transit. However if you are looking to see Madrid I would recommend a hotel that is more central to interesting sites and neighbourhoods. The room was very clean and the hotel in general was very trendy and nice, however from a value perspective it was a bit pricey.

Not up to a 4-star hotel.
First of all, it's not that close to the train station. the hotel is located in a poor neighborhood, unclean, lots of tramps, difficuld to find. maybe the direct distance to train station is 300M, but the actual walking distance is at least 800-900M.
hotel doesn't serve breakfast or any meal, only room service.no gym, no swimming pool.
The room facility is ok, but size is small. key doesn't work some times.
staff is not helpful. Their smill is kind of fake, and they don't seem willing to help. and the information they told you might be incorrect, you have to double check.
The pro is their rate is flat, and it's still walkable to sofia museum. the bed and pillow is good!

Had a great stay at the hotel. Helpful staff, very easy to find and reach from Atocha station (if you get the bus from the airport it stops at Atocha train station and it's only a few minutes walk - £5 from the airport to atocha).

breakfast was great and late enough to cope with madrid late night hours! Lovely room, very clean and even used the gym!

Room Tip: try to get a room on the 2nd floor - the office is on this floor and i'm sure that's why we...
