The best and worse part this hotel is location.
Bad - a 20 minute walk to Prado Museum on a slight but steady incline. To go to areas of tapa bars and restWaurants (tourist areas) may 30 minutes on cobblestones and slight uphill.
Good - right next to Atocha train station where buses from airport and most trains end up. Very quiet, which is needed after a long, noisy day in Madrid. Close to metro stations that can take you any where in city and avoid the long walks.
On balance, I vote yes, especially if you're not into the partying scene. Lots of quiet, non-tourists tapa bars around. Nice courtyard. Free (!) minibar with comes, beer, water. Helpful people. Clean neighborhood. Close to modern art museum (Reina) which is a must see.More
