“Only for Hard Bed Lovers”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2014

We stayed for a long weekend in May. Despite the great location and good value, we could hardly sleep due to the hardness of the bed mattress which was akin to sleeping on the floor. Our report to reception staff went unactioned. Only guests liking very hard beds should consider booking in to the hotel; all beds are identical, we were told.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms next to fire escape staircases. These are very noisy in use (presumably by staff) early...

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to write about your stay with us on Tripadvisor.
As I mentioned to you in the hotel survey you also filled out at the end of your stay, we do have matress softeners available in the hotel for guests who find the matresses to be too hard. Unfortunately, this information was not transmitted to you by our reception desk. Having done so, I´m sure you would have noticed a big difference.
I am very sorry about this as I can understand that having a comfortable bed is one of the most important aspects of a hotel. I have been able to identify the staff with whom you spoke with and I hope that this kind of incidence will not be repeated.
I thank you again for pointing this out as it really helps us to continually improve on our customer services.
If you do decide to give us another opportunity please feel free to contact me directly and I will be happy to organize your reservation and make sure you get a good nights sleep!
Best regards

we are just back from a 2 night stay at this lovely hotel. Staff were very friendly and knowledgable. room was a good size, cracking shower room with a massive walk in shower.

Although the breakfast selection was not excessive the food was good quality and fresh.

Its located just beside the Alonso Martinez metro stop, which is a good central location for getting anywhere. Its a short 5-10 minute walk to the centre

excellant value and will definitely go again

Room Tip: if you want a quit ere room ask for the rear of the hotel on an upper floor

Stayed for four nights in April 2014. Stylish hotel, in a great location. Our room wasa little on the small side, but well designed and stylish. It looked inwards to the courtyard, and was nice and quiet. Friendly staff, very helpful. Being close to the metro is a big plus. Some nice bars and cafes right beside the hotel. Good choice for a Madrid trip, the main attractions are within walking distance, or a short metro ride away.

Room Tip: Pick one on the inside, looking towards the courtyard. The on street ones can be noisy.

We stayed here on our recent trip to Spain. The hotel is just yards from the Alonso Martinez Metro station so it's very convenient to get around the whole city of Madrid. The rooms are very modern clean. We stayed one night, then headed south. We were returning to the hotel again in 3 days. They allowed us to leave our luggage there. When we returned and checked back in, they had our luggage waiting in our room! We did not eat at the restaurant there, so cannot comment on the quality. The one and only knock is the street noise. There is a jazz club next door and a bar across the street. The street noise was very loud and continued what seemed like all night. I would ask for a room on the back side next time.

We are sorry if you experienced some noise disturbance from the streets. Unfortunately being located in a lively plaza can have its advantages and disadvantages.
Please do contact me directly if you decide to return and we will be happy to assign you a room facing the courtyard.

We stayed at this wonderful hotel in April 2014 for 4 nights. The location was perfect for our purposes, to get to know the best of the city in a few days. It was easy to travel to the city by Metro, you have to change the line at Nuevos Minesterios and then jump off at Alonso Martinez. The hotel is right next to the Metro Station. It is an a walking distance to the most of the sights. We could even borrow bikes from the hotel to bike to Santiago Bernabeu stadion and back. There are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. The rooms are very cosy and clean. The breakfast was ecxellent. We will certainly come back to this hotel, when we come back to Madrid. Highly recommended.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2014

I stayed in March 2013, for business, as solo traveller, 4 nights. Reserved on Booking.com.

The hotel is a nice stay, in the heart of Madrid, very convenient from the airport (Plaza Alonso Martinez station is 50m away, 30 minutes and 4.90€ - no need for a taxi), close to several places and shops.

The room is nice and well equipped. I particularly enjoyed the hi-tech theme. My room (#320) had a HUGE number of power plugs (love it!!). There is a laptop (Sony Vaio) and an Apple docking station in every room with an excellent hi-speed wi-fi - if you are a business traveller and need only to check emails and browse news etc., you can leave home your laptop and iPhone charger, as I will probably do myself next time.

Breakfast is included in room charge and has a mixed English + continental style. Good choice of food and well maintained by the staff.

The hotel also has a choice of bicycles to be rented free of charge, for touring around the city.

The overall feeling is very good, and cosy, except for the chair in the room, not particularly comfortable. My only drawbacks was that it was not possible to completely pull the curtain in the room, and some traffic in the lifts when a large family or a group of people use the lift altogether; also, the hotel hall doesn't look "as a hall", placed on the corner rather than on the entrance. Also, in line with Spanish lifestyle, I wish I could have breakfast until 12.00 - 13.00 (closes at 11AM on weekends, which is still sleeping time locally :) But definitely minor things.

I will be glad to come back to the Petit Palace hotel at my next stay in Madrid.

Room Tip: My room #320 was the farther from the lifts, as there's 20 rooms per floor. Choose a small numbe...

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to write about your stay in our hotel.
We are happy you enjoyed it overall and that our hospitality and services reached your expectations.
I´m sorry if you had some problems with the curtain in your room, we will be checking this out thanks to your comment on it. All the curtains in all rooms should be able to be closed fully in order to eliminate any light that may leak through.
We do have some rooms with other types of chairs in them, perhaps a bit more comfortable and we do have future plans to improve the common areas of the hotel.
If you are going to return to Madrid feel free to let me know and I will make sure that the curtains are completely closeable and that you have a larger chair in your room.

Clean modern rooms , friendly helpful staff , good location for metro from airport , this is a good choice for a value conscious visitor to Madrid . Lots of bars and restaurants locally . About 15 - 20 mins walk from Retiro Park , Sol city Centre and Prado museum so slightly off centre but well positioned

Room Tip: away from the Santa Barbara street would be quieter
