“Madrid City Break”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

As part of our city break to Madrid my wife & I stayed here for 4 nights in mid October. Hotel is clean, stylish, modern & comes with a lap top (we never used) in your room and a iPod Dock station. We had the standard double room which was a good size but found the mattress to be on the firm side. The toilet door doesn't lock and this you may find uncomfortable. However, the shower (no bath) was to die for (once you work it out)!!
Breakfast was what you would expect for continental breakfast. Hotel bar located in the courtyard was open only at night and sometimes not at all for what I could see. However, walk outside and you can take your pick from several cafe bars and we found them reasonably priced. Montaditos on the right hand side as you exit the hotel has basic local food and drinks at low prices. A large beer was €1:50 and each mini baguette around €1
We used the bus tour to get a feel for the city and then we walked to wherever we fancied after that.
If your visiting Madrid I would recommend this hotel it's a good all rounder and is well located.

Dear Guests,
Thanks so much for your nice comments about your stay in our hotel.
We are sorry you found the mattress to be a bit too firm. If you ever do return to our hotel, please let us know previously and we will make sure to put some special mattress "toppers" on your bed which soften them up.
We do indeed have a bar open in the courtyard during spring and summer. If was closed on any particular night it could have been because we rented out the courtyard for a private event. We are sorry if this caused any inconveniences to you.
Best regards

I stayed in this hotel with a friend this August and absolutely loved it. The hotel itself is very nice, the staff is really friendly and flexible and it's located near the metro and places to eat&drink something. The rooms I've been staying in were very clean and well equiped, including a laptop to use for those without one. If you did bring your laptop (or are happy enough to work on a phone or tablet), the wifi with an excellent coverage is free to use. I'm quite an easy sleeper, but found the beds real comfortable. Also the bathroom was spacious and the shower really nice as well.

The breakfast was good as well. Quite a diverse supply of meats, cereal, fruit, juices and some cheese.

I would definately recommend this hotel to friends or family that are planning to visit Madrid. It's a really nice place to stay, close to the highlights and shopping places, by foot or even by metro if you find that more convenient.

Room Tip: I found the rooms looking out over the courtyard the nicest. They're bright and quiet.

We selected Petite Palace Santa Barbara for Tripadvisor reviews. It's a modern and techy hotel with the best service I've never seen. Employee are open to your requirement and helps you with kindly pleasure. Buffet breakfast is very complete and good price (only €10 per person). You have almost everything you need one block around: starbucks, 100 momtaditos, metro station, bus stop, taxi, etc. If you like walking, you can go for Hortaleza street to Puerta del Sol to live Madrid life. Facilities are clean and decor is nice. Very good option for properly price.

Room Tip: 4th floor is quiet and room design is nice.

Great find, modern, trendy, and clean! Try the local food and beverage near the front of the lobby too. Public transportation is only a block away and the metro provides a quick commute to the Palace, etc.

Room Tip: first floor facing atrium, elavator is availble, but not needed, atrium is away from the street

The Petit Palace Santa Barbara is located in the heart of the trendy part of Madrid. You cannot find a better location for shopping, visiting galleries, great restaurants and museums. The staff at the front desk reception are service minded and friendly. Modern and trendy decor everywhere. Nice little court yard where you can enjoy drinks and everywhere you have wifi!

The rooms are spacious and we loved the set up with a bunk bed for the kids. They loved it. So altogether a very positive impression. However, the double bed we slept in was rock hard - even the kids' bunk bed mattresses were more comfortable. This was such a shame and really put off the good experience. That's what counts at the end of the day. How well you sleep at night.

Each room has a laptop set up on the desk. Our's rebooted by itself at 3 am in the morning.

So get the basics right and this could be a prime location for a short stay in Madrid.

Dear Guests,
Thank you for your review on our hotel.
We are happy you enjoyed the most part of your stay with us.
About the matresses, we do have softners availible for guests who find them to be too hard. If you do ever choose to return to our hotel please let us know beforehand and we will make sure they are fitted to your bed.
I´m sorry about the laptop re-booting at 3am. They are not programmed to do this. If only I think I have been able to discover which room you were staying in so we will be checking this out in order to correct it.
Best regards

I stayed at the hotel in June 2013 with my wife. The hotel is clean and service was good. The location is a little out of the way, but it's a nice quiet area with lots of bars/restaurants in the area. It's very close to the Metro so it was easy to get around. We actually liked staying in the area since it was quiet and not too crowded.
