This is of course a tourist trap, but it's also well frequented by locals. Its got a nice industrial feel about it and a lively buzzing atmosphere. The stalls have everything from champagne and caviar to burgers, shakes and beer.
There are some prized tables, which are definitely at a premium, when busy. Some stalls have bar stools and there are lots of shelves where you can eat and graze. Recommended

Full of life and vivid with delicious smells, this covered market feels like an anthill of activity. People celebrate the food and drinks of Spain in a noisy, gregarious atmosphere, where everybody seems to be eating, toasting or buiying something.
I always felt that food markets are a way to measure the culinary pride and sophistication of a country and San Miguel was one place to strenghten my opinion.

Food is fresh as there is a lot of turn around the best ingredients are sourced but also a little pricey, but you are in the hub of tourism so expect to pay tourist prices.

The tapas we found at the Mercado San Miguel were fantastic! A great variety for each one of us!! The octopus on a stick I tried was delicious.
