Description: Anema e Core is a Neapolitan pizzeria straight from deepest Naples offering Italian cuisine such as Linguine al ragu di mare (long pasta with mussels, scarlet prawns, clams and baby tomatoes), il Tartar di tonno rosso (red tuna and scarlet prawn tartar) and cuori di napoli (pasta hearts filled with pear and requesón cheese with a tomato and clam sauce). It also offers meat dishes and pizzas from its wood-fired oven. Anema e Core is a modern restaurant with a friendly atmosphere, where the wood-fired oven takes pride of place.

The food at Anema e Core is fantastic. It is by far the best Italian restaurant in Madrid. The food is exquisite and very fresh. There is a wide variety to choose from, from the starters to the dessert. The wines as well as the cuisine is southern Italian. The staff is friendly and helpful in suggesting new items on the menu. I love the food at Anema e Core.

It's located close to Opera metro and it's a 5 minute walk away. If you are in Madrid and you enjoy good cuisine, it's worth going to this fantastic restaurant.

Nice inside. We went at 8:30pm and we were way too early. No one was there and by the time we ate our food and paid the bill, still not a soul in sight. It was not a fun atmosphere but that is partly our fault for going too early. Madrid dinner scene starts about 9:30pm.
We couldn't understand the menu (also our fault but don't expect English help here) so we ordered the only two things we recognised on the menu. A lasagne and cannelloni. The food arrived within a few minutes of us ordering. It was microwaved and mushy. The cannelloni was too cheesy and I could hardly taste the spinach. It was two pieces for 12 euro. It wasn't that nice and I didn't finish it. The tomato sauce on the outside of the plate was tasty but was not a main part of the dish. Overall, very disappointed.

in walking past this place. It is hard to find; a faded awning with faint lettering on a shadowed street near Calle de Mayor. But well worth looking for. A quiet Tues. night, early (8 PM) dinner with family, welcoming staff, beautifully presented dishes more reminiscent of southern Italy/Sicily.
I had a baked meat/tomato sauced ziti or rigatoni, my niece a tasteful simple tomato cheese pizza with a thin, wonderful crust. Another dish was pasta Bolognese, done well but with tomatoes ( I believe the 'official recipe calls for only meat/milk sauce). Excellent wine choices from Italy/Spain.
And, save room for dessert. Almost deserted when we left at 9:30, why? It is a truly very good Italian 'fix', rescuing me from endless tapas and fish.

We followed the reviews to this out-of-the-way Italian restaurant. We were treated like family, and the food was exquisite. The host was generous and the cook came out to see how we were enjoying our meal. When you tire of tapas in Madrid, this is a wonderful place to retreat to for some terrific food!
