This unassuming litre restaurant with a few tables on the pavement was only a few minutes from our hotel so, tired & hungry on our first night, we sat down outside for a drink so we could plan where to go to eat. So very glad we did. Then, later, looking it up in Trip Advisor, we were so pleased with ourselves for having "found it" without any outside help!
That first night we ordered a drink first & it came with a delicious tapa of tuna. We ended up staying for another drink & ordered mixed pinchos to share. Couldn't believe it when the slate platter was brought over. Hake with caramelised onions, tuna with sweet tomatoes, lomo with mushrooms, & pate with goats cheese. Best pinchos ever!
So it became our "local" restaurant during our stay in Madrid. Although we ate other places too (& had some very good food), we did return to La Mi Venta another twice. We never reserved, and we always sat outside (reservation is pretty much essential for inside), and we were not dsappointed with any of the food. The main dishes are as well thought out & prepared as the tapas, the wines were good, and the waiters were so friendly but really knew their jobs too - a very well run little restaurant.
One I would recommend to anyone I knew who was going to be in Madrid.
