“First night out”
Reviewed February 2, 2012

Arrived late at hotel but not a problem as they eat late in Madrid. Restaurant quite but it was December 30, everyone saving themselves for 31st. Joselito ham to die for, as was just about everything else on the menu. Staff very friendly and even if they spoke little or no English/Italian we had fun with them translating the menu. Price very reasonable seeing the location and restaurant are quite upmarket!

“fancy, chic, stylish, but the food...”
Reviewed June 14, 2011

one of the new stylish and chic restaurants in Madrid, but the foods are a bit overpriced.
Nice combinations and a lot of options for vegeterians though.

“Such a disappointment...”
Reviewed June 2, 2011

Although we had been looking forward to our dinner at Sula, we were bitterly disappointed. Our arrival was fine -- we were warmly greeted and offered tastings of wonderful Joselito ham and a glass of cava, but once we ascended upstairs to the restaurant, it was another world. Perhaps it was because we were a group of 12, but our tasting menu was ghastly. After tasting the first 3 or 4 dishes (which were variations on fried potato fritters), they were so unappealing in appearance and taste that our group literally pushed aside the next few courses and left before dessert was even served. Couples seated at neighbouring tables looked happier (and their food far better). I would consider trying it again but only for tapas downstairs in the bar, and perhaps with a companion a la carte but do NOT go with a group. Could this be one of those restaurants that dining on its reputation chooses to treat groups with disdain? It appeared so. It gets 2 stars because of the downstairs bar experience and the melt-in-your-mouth Joselito ham.

“Chic but unpredictable”
Reviewed May 4, 2011

Sleek, pleasant with mostly efficient staff, frequented by young people, it has a tapas bar and tables on the ground floor and more tables on first floor where you should aim to be. Gazpacho was full and satisfying, sweet breads on thinly sliced and excellently fried potatoes was succulent and just right and so were the croquettes. Tuna was overcooked, had no flavour and smothered with a red sauce of uncertain composition. Risotto with vegetables was made with rice (not risotto) and contained mushrooms (not a vegetable) instead, was very buttery and sticky, more like pilau and not runny as it should be. Cod was dry and pork was ordinary. Hit and miss.
