“Great Location Close to the Prado”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

I stayed here on my fourth visit to Madrid and this hotel was my favorite. It is located right next to the Prado. The rooms are on the smaller side (it's Europe) by American standards but the hotel is really nice and the rooms are comfortable.

The front desk staff was also very friendly and answered any questions we had.

When looking at a place to stay in Madrid, this should be on your list.

This is a great hotel and the location can't be beaten. It's on a small square just off the Paseo Prado so you can walk within a few seconds to several nice tapas bars. Across the beautiful boulevard is the Jardin Botanico then just behind this is the wonderful Retiro gardens. Again across the street, 1 minute away is the Prado gallery, 2 minutes the Caixa Forum, 3 minutes the Thyssen gallery and 4 minutes the Reina Sofia gallery. You can walk in most directions up interesting streets to reach the Plaza del Sol within 10 minutes or stroll and enjoy the sights and smells.
I paid for an upgrade to a suite and it was well worth it. It was enormous with a wonderful rainfall shower and spa style bath in the bathroom. The bed was huge and comfortable and the double glazing and shutters cut out all light and noise so you could have a wonderful sleep. I had a great little balcony that you could just watch the people go by in the little square below with fine coffee in hand from the Nespresso coffee maker and this was a nice (tasty) touch:)
The staff (especially Denitsa) were really helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of cold cuts or freshly made omelettes etc and freshly squeezed orange juice.
I thoroughly recommend the hotel, and though it's more than I normally pay for hotels, it was worth it overall for its location and the general standard.

If we return to Madrid we will stay here again. Bang opposite the Prado museum and a 10 min walk from Plaza Cibeles and Atocha station in either direction. Easy to get to from the airport and leave town if you are catching a train from Atocha to Barcelona or for a day trip to Toledo. Plenty of small alleys extending from the front of the restaurant which have many restaurants and also leads to Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and further to The Royal Palace. Walking distance to the other 2 museums and Retiro Park. Absolutely no need to get onto any public transport for travel inside the city from this location if you are in decent physical condition.

A note on the staff. We spoke to different people throughout our stay and they were friendly and courteous and answered all of our questions.

Clean, modern rooms with reasonably comfortable beds.

The Radisson Blu Madrid Prado is really well located, close to the main museums, shopping streets and best restaurants in the city. This becomes more important in Madrid. Even if you do not go out at night, well you should! At least walk by the streets and see old and young people, families, friends and kids in the streets at every hour.

The renovated building gives a certain charm to the hotel and the rooms are quite nice: big enough, clean and with amazing rain showers. Good quality for a very good price rate!

Stayed in a suite recently. THe room was quite large, a living room w/couch, chair, table and odd plastic chairs. There is a wall unit/closet in this room with the mini bar & safe. Also a half bath right off the entry way. The lights are impossible to figure out (multiple switches control the same lights), but workable.
There are three mini balconies off the suite (that overlook the square). The furniture in the suite is okay, not my style. The entire place is carpet/rugs (except the bathroom). Would be better to have some other flooring. Bed was comfortable and drapes blocked out the sunlight when needed. The bathroom is in the bedroom with glass walls. Not for the privacy seekers. Shower had great water pressure! Toiletries were good but aren't refilled without asking. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included with the room rate (meats, cheeses, pastries, cereal, fruit - we didn't find out until the last day that the eggs to order were included as well). I am not sure i would pay 23E for it, but if included was a nice way to start the day.
Location was great. Right across the street from the Prado and quite close to Parc Retiro (great park!). Also near metro stops and within walking distance of lots of restaurants, starbucks, other museums, etc.
There is a treadmill right next to the pool that is in the lower level/basement. I am not sure how someone could use it unless you wanted a very hot, humid, chlorine filled workout. The pool was small, but looked usable.

First off, Madrid is a truly great city. Especially if you are a night owl like me. We never sat down to dinner before 11pm and one night even at Midnight. The room was a bit small, but very nice. big bathroom, great shower with a huge rain head, towel warmer. Comfortable bed. Great flat screen TV. With window closed it was very quiet and our window opened up right to the square, nice view. Very comfortable bed cover but possibly too warm!!! My only gripe was this light in the ceiling by the door that very faintly illuminated part of the room at night. odd. they called it an emergency light, i called it annoying, but they did say they could cover it with black tape. Everyone at the front desk staff was exceptionally helpful, our favorite was Mohammed, who helped book Flamenco reservations, guided us to excellent tapas, consulted on airport transport, etc... Speaking of Flamenco, we saw two awesome shows, one close by at Villa Rosa and one further away at. Corral de la Moreira both shows exceptional in their own ways. The Radisson Blu is walking distance to a ton of great stuff including the Prado Museum, Plaza Mayor, and Atocha Train station, all within walking distance (you don't wanna walk from Atocha with bags). Starbucks is 3 blocks away as well. I would highly recommend Radisson Blu for your stay in Madrid.

Stayed for two nights in June and found the hotel staff to be very helpful. Room was clean with a very comfortable bed and the breakfast was excellent. Hotel was ideally placed for the Prado Museum and there was a good choice of restaurants nearby. I will stay again on my next trip to Madrid.
