We ate here twice on our 10 day trip. Very elegant dining room-the fish was awesome. Very attentive but not intrusive service.

This restaurant was recommended by the concierge at the Gran Melia Fenix. It was beautifully appointed with the tables a good distance apart so privacy was maintained. We don't speak Spanish and instead of making us feel awful about that, which a few places did, the maitre d couldn't have been more helpful in placing our order, recommending wine, and making us feel comfortable. We had the salad and the soup for appetizers. They were good but nothing special. The fish was so outstanding (and we live and fish on Cape Cod so we are quite picky). My husband had the halibut and I had the filet if sole. My fish was thin, tender, boned in the dining room, and just perfect . The bread was also out of this world. We would definitely go back to this restaurant.

This restaurant was recommended by two concierges at the Ritz Madrid. We asked for a seafood restaurant where the food, not the "scene" would be the focus; and that the atmosphere would be quiet and comfortable. At first, we sat on the front street terrace, but after noticing couples entering through a door, we investigated to discover a room decorated like a cottage, no music; just comfortable. We moved indoors. The waiters are old school- they know the seafood and know how to serve it. When we asked about a rather expensive item on the menu, we were advised against it that night; the item just did not seem great according to the waiter. The host was from Russia, and my girlfriend speaks Russian; so that made for an extra-special evening. There are approximately 15 tables. The service is excellent; the items include Hake, Barnacles, Razor Clams and meats. Preparations and presentations are grand. Expensive, but absolutely worth the effort! We will be back.

We ate here simply by mistake, not knowing that it was a different Combarro to No 1 on TA. What can we say, brilliant. Located in Salamanca a short walk from the metro station. As you walk in you walk over a glass floor which covers a fesh water pool full of the biggest lobsters I have ever seen. You can either eat in the bar (cheaper option) or in the restaurant. Fish is the speciality but it also caters for meat eaters, vegetarian options are limited. Its not cheap a two course meal with wine will set you back over 100E but the food is lovely as is the service, come armed with some spanish though as waiting staffvhave limited english although english menus are available. Greatly recommended
