“Perfection in every way”
Reviewed March 17, 2014

We have travelled for many weekend breaks and as such have experienced every kind of hotel imaginable. The Petit Palace Art Gallery is one hotel which we will never forget as everyone of our needs were catered for. From the friendly staff, cleanliness, location, breakfast, the comfort of the beds, the location of the hotel, the power shower in the en suite every thing was perfect. Being from Ireland we have just been subjected to the wettest windiest winters on record and in this regard Madrid had the sun out every day of our stay. It was wonderful and after two nights we had to leave and return home much to our dismay.

Petit Palace Art Gallery Hotel and Madrid a special thank you for the lovely experience you provided us with. We really appreciated it.

Room Tip: Cannot offer any tips here as we received the hotel stay as a christmas gift from our children and s...

I usually stay in Gran Via whenever I end up in Madrid...but it feels very touristy... so I decided to give this boutique hotel a try.... the location is fantastic, right next to Serrano street with tons of shops and the Jorge Juan street is famous for cool trendy restaurant along with designer shops... the area is very quent.
The hotel itself is good, clean, spacious rooms, WiFi all through out the Hotel, they provide with a lap top if you don't have your own, the hotel is a renovated beautiful building with small balconies..
No need to have breakfast or dinner at the Hotel, plenty of options right at your doorstep, you are in walking distance to the Cibeles fountain, Gran Via... etc, you have a metro stop near by to move easily.
By taxi to the airport takes about 20 min....
Will definitely go back.

I normally stay at their Serrano st property, so this time I decided to give a try to this one. It is exactly the same: an average well locayed hotel. Wi-fi works well and staff is correct. Rooms are modern with the outrageous "integrated" bathroom where you wake up your partner each time you tur on the bathroom lights at night. We did not use the restaurant. There is no bar inside the hotel but there are plenty around both for breakfast and a late drink. Use the hotel if you go to the high end shopping area of Serrano and Goya streets.

Room Tip: Do not use the old elevator to the right hand of the reception: you can easily by blocked because of...

Don't get me wrong - good location, great pics, decent staff! But right from the start, things seem a little off. A great effort at decor marred by bad gloomy lighting. Decent rooms with too little of the little things to make it thoughtful. Polite staff who are just that. Adequacy is the order of the day here. And really the narrow noisy streets do affect if you want a totally quiet night - not helped by renovations next door that started early on the two mornings I was there... Wish it was memorable but it isn't and there are many hotels in Madrid at this price.

This hotel has a great location. There are some excellent restaurants nearby (one just across the street) that are well worth a visit. It's walking distance to the city centre and some of the best art museums in the world. We liked the fact that the hotel lend out bikes which was perfect for a quiet Sunday ride. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was ok.
However, having small children at home, getting a good night's sleep and a well deserved siesta is of top priority when we travel these days. The beds were absolutely stone hard! It was like sleeping directly on the floor on the carpet. The only time before we experienced this was in Vietnam. The staff said they had recently bought new beds recommended by a chiropractor (that might have wanted more work to do after clients have slept in this hotel?!). The hard beds actually make us not wanting to go back, even if the hotel itself and the staff was very good.

We have just spent three nights in the hotel and I am really sorry to say that I'll never go back.
The hotel itself is really good, the location just unbeatable in the best quarter of Madrid, the rooms have a good size with very comfortable beds and nice decor. The toilets are clean, the stuff is very friendly and helpful... At first sight I couldn't believe the value you get for the money you pay.
However, everything went wrong when we closed the window/balcony door and tried to do what you are suppose to do in a hotel: sleep!
The noise in the rooms is just unbearable, you can hear every single car and motorbike that runs below your window. On top of that, there is a night club on the other side of the street and when they close at around 5:30-6am, all the people go outside and stay around, singing, shouting, clapping, fighting...
I called reception to find out what was going on and they were very apologetic but there wasn't anything they could do apart from calling the police which they had already done.
I called the police myself and they promised to come round and have a look, not sure if they did to be honest.

This happened on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday fortunately the club was closed so we managed to sleep a little bit more.

It is a real shame because the hotel has so much potential. As I was saying, everything else is very good but it fails in the most important basic thing.

Maybe what it needs is just a better double glazing in the windows?? I don't know what is the solution for this problem but until it is solved I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay there. :-(

Room Tip: Maybe the rooms facing Lagasca Street are a bit quieter but I was told in reception the rooms at thi...

All in all, a good experience. The room was spacious and clean, although the beds could use better pillows. We had a mix up with the number of guests and the staff quickly rounded up an extra bed for us. The buffet was average for the cost. Better to just eat at the numerous neighborhood eateries. A good value for the money.

Room Tip: No pool -- there is a 50 metre pool for those who are interested a short metro ride away
