“My bad experience”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

I had similar experience with "Frac" posted on March 07.

I contacted this hotel for a shuttle bus when I arrived the Madrid airport. A lady from the hotel answered me that we will send a shuttle in 20 min even I did not make a reservation for the shuttle. I was waiting for the shuttle for 30 min, but it did not appear, so I called the hotel again, and different lady, who is a manager of reception, picked up and said that we do not have your reservation! I explained her the situation, and she said that we will send you the shuttle in 20 min, so I was waiting for another 30 min, but did not come!! I called again, and the same lady manager picked up, and she said that we will send you right away. After an additional 20 min (total 30+30+20=80 min), the shuttle finally came, but no apology at all. I complained the situation to the lady manager after arriving the hotel, but she said that we had many passengers and needed to pick them up at the airport (of course, no apology from her at all). It takes for about 10 min from the airport, and I did not see the shuttle passed by in front of me even one time while I kept waiting it at right place for all the time!! I fed up to talk with her anymore after hearing such poor execute.

She also gave me unexpected service about an a address on receipt at the same time of my check-in. When I requested her to prepare the receipt under company name and address (because I stay for business trip from outside Europe), but she said that we need your company number (something like VAT number?), otherwise we issue under your personal address. I do not know what it was or what she was talking about. I have traveled a lots of European continues, but it was first time to hear such thing. Anyway, I did not have/know such number because I am just one of employees from small company located outside Europe, as well as my company closed due to weekend. Even though I explained her the situation, she did not listen or accept my request at all. At a date of my check-out, I requested a man from the front desk to issue a receipt under company name and address, he did it right away without asking me such a number at all.

Overall, my room and the restaurant were very clean and comfortable with this price range, as well as peoples were very nice and friendly except a lady manager at the front desk. I hope that hotel listen my really bad experiences and improve such services as soon as possible.

We were insulted and robbed but got away physically unharmed... barely.

The highlights are as follows.

We called ahead to have the hotel's airport shuttle pick us up at the terminal. It never showed up. Eventually a driver from another hotel took pity on us and convinced someone to come. There was no apology waiting for us by the time we eventually checked in. Rather, we were first told that no reservation had been made, then that there was a reservation but that the shuttle had been on time, and last that the event had never happened at all. In short, the strategy pursued by the impertinent receptionist hinged on the belief that verbally harassing the guests redeemed her of responsibility. It didn't and it doesn't.

Since we had an early flight the next day and could no longer count on their competence, we were forced to get up two hours earlier than expected and consequently miss the (paid for) breakfast buffet. We were assured that an early breakfast would be prepared. There was no surprise when we woke up to find a clunky coffee machine, a stale croissant, and a miscellaneous collection of leftovers. The night guard gave us the same explanation that he had given to many, many other guests before, that is, that "the cook had the key" and, of course, was still sleeping at that early hour.

On the return we made a reservation elsewhere on pure survival instinct. It is left as a reader exercise to figure out if we got our money back when we canceled on "Maydrit".

We stayed at this hotel as an overnight transit stop. In the past we have used another hotel and decided on a change. We were very pleased at trying the Maydrit as it fulfilled our needs perfectly. The room provided was of a high standard and spacious. The bathroom was a dream, very modern facilities complete with a bidet, a shower recess, and a separate bath. The lighting system provided many combinations of lighting which created a very pleasant room ambience.
We chose to have the breakfast provided for Euro10 each. The breakfast provided a huge range of options and definitely great value for the price.
In relation to the free shuttle pickup; The service was as one would expect, reliable with clean late model buses. ( We had the information desk at Madrid Airport telephone the hotel to confirm pickup.)

Now it would be fair to say that you would not want to spend a weeks holiday here, but if you have to stay a night at Madrid Airport, then this is the place for you.

We got a good offer off Booking.Com. The hotel pick you up on a free shuttle bus from the airport, and deliver you back to the airport at the end of your stay there - you will need to phone the hotel from the airport as the shuttle only runs on order, not continuously.

The hotel is modern, perhaps minimalist, decor. Our room was not large, but was pleasant with a good modern bathroom (shower, not bath).

The free wifi was a bit hit and miss to log on, but once I connected to it, it did work well.

The restaurant/cafe/bar is again modern decor. We had a pizza and wine in the evening, and breakfast the next morning. Both fine - not, gourmet, but we were not paying for gourmet

The staff were mainly pleasant - one of the waiters at breakfast was a little on the wrong side of charming

I thought that it was great value for money, and would stay there again if we need to spend a night near Baracas Airport

Maydrit is close to the airport and about a 5-minute walk from a metro station. I arranged with the hotel for a free pickup at the airport. But our flight was delayed a little bit, and I had to call the hotel after arrival at the airport. A shuttle came after 10 minutes. I also arranged for the same free service to the airport the night before our departure.
The hotel was clean, contemporary, spacious, comfortable and very affordable. It was the lest expensive one we stayed at during our trip, yet the best. It's about 15-20 minutes away by metro from the tourist attractions. The breakfast buffet (10Euro pp) was great as well. The front desk was very courteous and helpful. Highly recommended!!

We had a day and a half layover in Madrid, so we were looking for a reasonably priced hotel. This hotel was perfect, for many reasons. The hotel offers a free shuttle from baggage claim. Hubby had gone inside to call for the shuttle, meanwhile the shuttle arrived and the driver was so patient and friendly. Upon arrival the receptionist was so funny, helpful and also friendly. The lobby & restaurant are modern. The room was clean & bright also with modern decor. The bathroom had a double sink in an open area. The toilet with bidet was behind a sliding patterned glass door with the shower across from the toilet. The room was also spacious with a desk and sitting area with free wifi and a flat screen tv, and mini bar. There also was a closet with a safe. The room service was reasonably priced. There is a spa option for ten euro. The metro was close by. The only thing missing was coffee and tea making facilities, but that's minor for us. We highly recommend this hotel!!
