“Ideal for couples/ groups of adults”
Reviewed October 18, 2011

Great location for bars/ restaurants, 10 min stroll to the Prado museum, 15 minute stroll to Sol (main square), a leisurely 30 min walk to the palace. Easy to get around the city with using the Metro (apart from going to Real Madrid game and the airport - dont get a taxi or the bus - 2.50e 1-way trip and station is 3/4 mins away from the apartment).

Booked through booking.com and found it easy to access (given codes to get in so did not have to worry that we arrived at 11pm on the Friday), good service, would use them again.

Apartments are relatively small but very new with good facilities. We had 3 adults in a 1 bedroom apt, was just about big enough, would struggle to fit 4 adults in (maybe 2 couples). Also the walls are quite thin so could hear people coming and going at night. This did not affect us Friday and Saturday but Sunday when we had a flight the next day.

I would highly recommend this to couples/ groups of adults but maybe not families. Overall great place to stay and Madrid is a brilliant city!

I booked this apartment for a family holiday in Madrid and we were not disappointed. The booking process was easy and secure online, but it was easy to speak to someone in the office if required. I had arranged prepayment for the apartment so that we could go directly to it. On arrival at Madrid airport we easily found the bus which took us to Atocha railway station in the city centre. This cost 2 Euro each. From the railway station it was a 15 minute walk to the apartment but you would need a good map. We used a sat nav which was enabled for pedestrians. The apartment was spacious, clean, and very well equiped. There was air conditioning in every room. There was a lovely balcony complete with table and chairs for dining outside with a lovely view from the 4th floor. The location of this apartment was fantastic for sight seeing as it was within walking distance of most of the top 10 tourist attractions in Madrid. We only used the metro once in five days and that was to visit the Real Madrid football stadium. The metro station was less than 5 mins walk from the apartment. There were plenty of shops and restaurants close by and we found a well stocked supermarket 10 mins walk. This is a great apartment in a super location. I would really recommend it for holiday makers who want a central location.

I had wonderfull stay at Prado. After I checked my friend swould come later. Due to the locker system at the apartment's frontdoor, I didnt have to wait inside for my friends. i simply mailed them the code and when I got back they were inside. The area is not really my favourite but everything I needed was in walking distance. So I can surely recommend staying here. The portable Wifi was marvelous!

Only minus was that we werent able to get the aircondition to work in any of the rooms!

the prado apartments are centrally located. we loved how it was in the middle of madrid.
their apartments are well-equipped. made our 2-week stay comfortable and convenient. there is a lift, which is great!

when booking via third-party sites like hotels.com, make sure to call the apartment's office as there is no reception in the building--you have to schedule to pick up the keys in another location. no staff.

ikea furniture needs to be replaced!

Prado Apartments in Madrid belongs to "Old Town Apartments" a chain which rents apartments and flats for shortterm rental. At the time of booking, we did not get any hint, that the keys have to be picked up in a different location than the apartemnt itself.

When we arrived at the apartment building, there was no sign which gave us a hint where to pick up the keys. Luckily a guest came out and gave us the address. My partner stayed with all the luggage and went to pick up the keys from a location 20 Minutes away!

The apartment itself was nice and well equipped, altough very dark, as all windows faced the narrow inner courtyard, so we needed lights on during the day.

But the ölocation not facing the street turned out to be luck: During the day there were road constructions and at night came a lot of noise from the taverns nearby, but in our flat we were not bothered.

The area itself is very nice and centrally located

We stayed for a week in Prado 14 - me, my husband, 3 sons (one teenager & 2 in their early 20s). The apartment was quite big by our previous European experiences. It was clean and mostly had what we needed. We enjoyed the terrace in the evenings (too hot during the day). Our only complaint was that the apartment could have used more furniture on the terrace (only 3 chairs provided) and a more extensive supply of glassware/dishes. When we arrived there were 6 very small glasses. The apartment managers quickly supplied more when asked. However, for a family of 5 you need a good supply of dishes, cups etc so that you can fill up the dishwasher. Another thing was that the living room could have used some additional comfortable seating. It really only had seating for 4 and we had to use dining room chairs to supplement.

We stayed at Prado Atico A on the top floor. It has a large terrace on the corner of the building and we had sun on the terrace all day. The apartment was clean and well equipped. The kitchen had modern equipment, including a much needed dishwasher and large fridge freezer. Extras were supplied such as toilet roll and tea bags. The only fault was the showers -we could only use one at a time due to the water pressure and there was only one mirror in the place.
The apartment is in a great location. Bars and clubs are within a few minutes walk. Being on the top floor we didn't notice any noise but... we went on a weekend and were out most of the night, so we can't really comment about the noise as mentioned by others. For sightseeing, the apartment is fairly central for most sights and a 20 min walk to the main square. It is also very close to a Metro stop.
We would not hesitate in recommending this place to friends and would stay there again.
