We stumbled on this lovely restaurant while shopping in Madrid and noticed that it had a terrace (it was very hot and a cold drink was needed!).

We were led through to the most charming terrace by the very nice Maitre'd. The terrance had trees and plants and the wonderful spray mist system. We spent the afternoon there eating very good food and drinking wine. The Maitre'd was very charming and very helpful in explaining the best way to get to places in the city.

I really didn't want to leave this restaurant as it was like a little secret garden and when I return to Madrid I will definitely visit again.

We used to live in Madrid and Iroco holds some very special memories for us, which makes last night's experience all the more disappointing. Our reception on arrival was weak and unfriendly, the waiter dropped the wine bottle on my plate, breaking it and spilling wine all over the table, he then replaced the plate, putting it on top of the small broken pieces and put a napkin on top of the spilt wine on the tablecloth. We then ordered 2 half portions of prawns as starters, only one arrived, so we ordered another, 3 prawns in the first portion, 4 in the second, we were charged €8 for the half portion of 3 and €16 for the portion of 4. Our main courses arrived with 10 minutes between different peoples orders and our wine was kept at a separate table but not topped up. Finally we were charged €14 Euros for bread which never saw. The food was ok, the garden nice but service atrocious.

This restaurant is situated in the up market area north of Retiro Park. You would expect most of the restaurants around here to be above average. This restaurant however was not the case. Food was terrible, especially how it is so close to the amazing Oven 180 or El Paraguas.
- Service was so so.
- Vegetable tempura starter. Not light and not crunchy. Heavy and soggy. Too much, couldn't finish. Tipping sauce was just salty soya sauce. They could have at least made a dressing of some kind. 0 out of 10.
- Prawn spring roll starter. Hardly any prawns. 2 out of 10.
- Monk fish main course. Fish was OK in quality. Vegetable accompaniment was dry and burnt. Zero flavor!
- Cabrito goat meat main course was way too salty, in fact we were close to sending it back. But since my monk fish wasn't salty at all, we shared!
- The back garden patio area seems like a nice place to eat. Can't say the same about the food.

In summary, save your money, go back to Oven 180.

Our concierge recommended us this restaurant. The brief was somewhere that isn't touristy, with outside space that serves good food. This place totally answered that brief. The garden is really pretty with the sprays of mist to cool you down. You do need to book though as we went on a Wednesday night and it was totally packed inside and out. We didn't order starters but the mains were delicious and the serving size perfect (not too big and heavy). I had the gambas with rice and it was absolutely gorgeous. The desert was to die for. It was ice cream with a citron tart and I don't think I have ever tasted ice cream like it. The service was o.k and it is a little on the expensive side but as the food quality was so good I think its good value for money compared to what you pay in some of the 5 star hotels and restaurants on Plaza Mayor for example. Would highly recommend it.

We arrived early at 20:30h. -2 people- without reservation, and although not on the terrace itself it was possible to have some dinner.
We had read reviews so we had a more or less clear idea what to order, we share everything: Begin with some Nachos (excellent and original dish) and Foie terrine (burde presentation, not recommended) and a Steak Tartare that was just ok both taste and presence, but despite its price -€24- they not prepare the dish at the table but it comes ready from the kitchen and that always lows the quality of this specialty. We finished with an apple pie (excellent).

The waiters try to be correct but it took a lot since we finished the appetizers to have the main dish and after this the dessert, as well as when we ordered for repetitions of bread (mini) and beer, in this sense, I consider absurd the expensive prices of mini-bread -€2.5 per mini-unit- and also for the beers (Mahou € 3.00 and € 3.50 Cibeles).

Total was € 77.50.

We recommend if you go to reserve on the terrace which is worthiest thing about this place.
