Main purpose of my stay in La Rioja was to visit as many wineries as possible and eat as many tapas as I could. Staying at this hostal made both of my two major goals not only possible but soooo easy. First of all it's located in Logrono, the major city in this amazing land of tempranillo, and is just a short driving distance to the many amazing wineries in the region. However, since the hostal doesn't have parking, do you have to do a bit of looking to find a place to park, which will most likely cost you, especially if you want to park in a more secure place, but the staff is quite helpful in this aspect. The hostal is also right next to Calle Laurel, the famous street of tapas!!! Which is a close second to the wineries in all my favorite things in La Rioja!!!
The room in general is not huge, but sufficient. And for 59 euros a night, I received two beds, hot shower, flat screen tv, and everything cleaned daily! So for the location, cleanliness, and price, this hostal was definately worth it. Plus, it's not a typical hostal, where you have to share a room or a bathroom with a stranger!
Also there is a small wine shop across the street that is a must visit to buy amazing and cheap Riojan wines! Just chat up the shop owner and find out his favorites and he will hook you up! And make your winery reservations in advance, and it is much more reliable to call instead of just emailing to set up tours!

We got the address from LP book. The hostal is , yes, very central; but you should not forget that Logroño is a very small place! The room was very very clean (especially the bathroom). The bed was not very comfortable and there was no parking. They had wi-fi, which was OK; but no soap in the bathroom! We had a weird welcoming: the woman at the reception was kinda strange. She even did not show a smile when we arrived. I really felt uneasy!! There is no breakfast, but there are some nice cafés close to the hostel. Main problem: very low sleeping quality especially if you're a light sleeper! Our room was on the street side and it was noisy all night!!!! Moreover, in all Spain, the walls are made of toilet paper, you hear all other people in the hostel. Someone started talking at 7:30 a.m, and I woke up and never slept again!!

The best and worst point is the hostel's central location. It is right in the centre, but off the main drag which is great; but beware that some of the rooms overlooking the square and side streets can be incredibly noisy at the weekend when everyone leaves the bars. These are the nicest rooms though, with a bit more character.

The quieter rooms, without a view and giving onto a dark court-yard, give you a good night's sleep but are very basic. It is a family run hostel, which makes it slightly cozier, but the downside is the fact the staff speak no English whatsoever, so it is difficult to communicate if your Spanish is only basic.

If you are looking for an inexpensive place to stay, then it is not a bad option, but this is certainly no 'hidden gem'.

Room Tip: If you want a good night's sleep, avoid rooms overlooking the square or side streets.

My stay at La Numantina was such a wonderful surprise. Not only was the location great; right near all the wonderful bars and tapas streets; but i was driving, and there was free and safe parking very close by. The accommodation itself was clean to perfection, with rooms made up daily. The bathrooms were a great size, with a massive bathtub!! The beds themselves were very comfortable, and the satff (whilst not able to speak english) were incredibly friendly and helpful; and between my limited spanish and communicating via gestures, we made it work. The value for money was fantastic. I paid $35 euro a night, for a room that could have very comfortably stayed two. That works out cheaper than a hostel!! All in all, if i ever return to Logrono this is the only place i will stay. My most favourite in all of Europe so far.

We stayed here for one night in September 07 in a double room (for 50 EUR).

One of the prime benefits is the location. It is 50m from a large underground carpark (under Parque Espolon) and even closer to the centre of the city and the evening Tapas scene (which is great in Logrono).

The rooms are decent, clean with a clean bathroom. They are however quite noisy. The TV from the neighbouring room was clearly audible in our room.

In short a decent place, nothing special but not a bad price given its location.
