“Quaint, location and nice service”
Reviewed January 11, 2014

If you want to visit some great Rioja bodegas you probably need to visit Haro. If you want a nice simple, clean and excellently located hotel, then stay at the hotel arrope.
Fantastic service upon arrival including expediting our room being ready for us to check in, and some general assistance with what to see and do I the area.
Visit the 'horse shoe' lanes for some of the best bars and food in the area.
Yes, the car parking is a bit of an adventure, but just look for the hotel arrope signs hanging from the roof over the allocated car bays in this shared garage. And yes, look out for the concrete pillars, other cars, walls and the steep driveway to this basement area. I wouldn't personally want to try to get anything bigger than our vw polo rental car in one, but go for it!

First of all this isnt a 5 star so you have to know that upfront as I have read some of the complaints about this place on TA and disagree as it is an amazing centrally located hotel with large rooms. It was perfect for us and allowed us to explore Haro and nearby wineries.

So we stayed at three very different hotels during our trip through La Rioja (Haro=Hotel Arrope, Laguardia=Hotel Eguren Ugarte and Laguardia=Hospederia de los parajes) and they all offer different things for diff people (Laguardia and Hospederia is truly amazing however!)
This hotel is centrally located in downtown Haro and is inexpensive and great simple place to stay while in Haro region.

Pros: Simple spacious rooms, centrally locate, inexpensive
Cons: Parking can be an issue (but generally true of Haro); you can park on street but 10-8 pm for a fee (i believe max is 2 hrs) and the free after 8 pm till 10 am.I parked on street and then moved car around block where it was free (must pay if parking spot demarcated with blue line) if any questions just ask friendly staff
People say that the wineries are walking distance they are but long walk. . just drive and do yourself a favor and look at La Rioja maribel guides for any trip through La Rioja

Just got home from trip through Northern Spain that ended with 2 night stay here. Very reasonable price, ideally placed in Haro for access to all facilities in the town. They arranged tour of Lopez de Heredia bodegas which was very informative and well worth it. Car parking can be an issue, but they do have access to underground parking nearby which makes like so much easier - there are loads of parking wardens. All the staff were friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend a stay

We spent two nights in this hotel and we were very happy. The hotel is perfectly located in the old town of Haro and very close to the wineries. The hotel also organised for us a wine tasting session with food matching we really enjoyed. Our room was on the top floor and it looked recently renovated, it was basic but clean and comfortable. All in all very good value for a very affordable price.

We stayed two nights in Hotel Arrope. The hotel is in a great location. We walked all over town including the wineries. The staff was so friendly and helpful. They provided parking with a small fee. The restaurant was delicious with a great wine list to choose from.

We had a room on the top floor (in the roof) which looked newly renovated and it had air conditioning and a window in the roof with a remote control. Lovely flat screen tv and lots of space with a sofa. It was spotlessly clean and the staff were very helpful. I also liked the terrace area to have a nice glass of rioja. Only slight negative for me was that there was no bath in the big bathroom but it did have a very big shower.

The hotel is perfectly situated, just on the edge of Haro's small old town area.
It has a range of indoor and outdoor public areas, all attractively presented. The air-conditioned bar has shaded outside seating to give choice.
The €4 breakfast was excellent value, pleasantly served in the front garden.
The staff are friendly and very helpful.
The only drawback is the lack of some facilities in the rooms. The absence of air-conditioning, safe and fridge takes away from otherwise excellent rooms. With air-con it would be a superb basic hotel, worth more than the current, quite high price.
