“Brilliant attraction”

The Great Siege Tunnels
Reviewed July 20, 2014

I loved this bit, well worth the walk from the top of the rock. Buy and all inclusive ticket at the cable car, well worth it. the tunnels were so much bigger and better than I had expected, lots to see and quite a lot of historical information available too, great fun!

My advice is to take the lift up to the top of the rock. From there walk your way down. One of the things to see is the great siege tunnel.

Tunnels are lengthy and steep in parts but so worth seeing for yourself. Our uncle was stationed here during the war and seeing where he had to work was really insightful. There really isn't anything to dislike - they are what they are - they are real and a part of our history.

Both definitions of the word cool work here. It was a nice cool spot out of the heat and it was neat to learn about the history. There were quite a few little "exhibits" that were under construction when we went, but it was still informative with the other ones that were complete. It is a nice walk. For those in a rush, you can choose to turn around at certain points.

The Siege Tunnels are quite a hike, our tour guide told us to go to the end then walk slowly back up, which is what we did. All of the plaques gave us a lot of interesting information about the military and the rock.

We even got to see a plane take off from the airport.
