Description: The Brainchild of The Hunter twins – Andy and John, the Lord Nelson was opened to pay homage to one of the British Navy’s Greatest leaders, Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson, 1st Duke of Bronté KB. The themed bar/bistro was designed to emulate HMS Victory, with sails & rigging as well as pictures and memorabilia taking locals and tourist alike back in time 200 years to the age of the battle of Trafalgar. Set in the historic Grand Casemates Barracks, the restaurant was one of the first to open in the redeveloped limestone barracks in 2001. It has traditionally been since then THE place to go for live music or to watch sports or even just for a drink or a meal. The restaurant serves a full menu with local favourites, traditional English pub grub as well as a fusion of exotic foods from around the world. We have a well stocked wine cellar to accompany the food, and you will find a selection of cool lagers and best bitters to quench your thirst on a hot summer day.

I thoroughly enjoyed my chicken curry that I had for lunch whilst visiting the Rock before moving there at the end of the month.

The Lord Nelson is right beside the Landport which was originally the only entrance to the fortification. It is a very good welcome and I recommend it as a start to your trip. It seems to show sports matches on television.

Thank John C

I wish I had asked his name. During a meal in the Lord Nelson, in Casemates Square, Gibraltar the Bar Man, possibly the manager made me feel like the most important customer in there, and I wasn't on my own in that feeling. Such a friendly, outgoing person, and so funny! He's got a strong accent, possibly Liverpool? So good I went back the next day for more. I visit Gibraltar every 3 - 6 months and the Nelson will be a MUST on my things to do list. I would call it a Not to be Missed dinner/lunch/breakfast/drinks venue for all visitors.
Nachos is great, Curry is even better, burritos fab, and the steaks!

If you are Gibraltar you should try this pub / restaurant, It is tucked away inside the main walls of casemate square, and internally tricked out like a traditional British pub - quite authentic.
The beer is genuine british cask ale kept in good condition, and its a very pleasant place to sit and enjoy the atmosphere.
But you should try the food, - excellent well cooked and piping hot pub food, and not expensive either.
The fish and chips were to die for, - from the size of the fish, more like whale and chips. Be sure to go there, you won't be disappointed.
