“Just monkeying around!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2012

Ok, ill start off saying that i like monkeys alot, so if your not a monkey/animal fan, you probably wont have the same experience i did. BUT if you do, then you are in for a blast. Since i went up to the top with my parents we ended up taking the cable car, at the top there are quite a bit of monkeys around the station waiting to prey on unsuspecting tourist that have some sort of food. The monkeys there are pretty chilled out so you can get some good shots of them lounging around. But if you leave the building headed down the slope (left of the cable car if you are looking at it) there are lot more monkeys. I would not recommend trying to mess with the older monkeys, they will def. come snatch stuff out of your hands. 1 older monkey had a fight with this girl over a pack of dorritos. But, some of the younger ones will jump on your shoulder if they think you have some sort of food on you. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED to feed the monkeys, and doing so can be dangerous, as they do have quite large teeth. But for the more daring individuals, i had a cigarette celophane wrapper in my pocket that i used to get the monkeys on my shoulder for a sweet pic. 4 times they got on my shoulder, but please be careful!

“Monkey Business”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 21, 2012

I went on a cruise with http://www.cruise.co.uk/ and we stopped of at Gibraltar. Whilst there I vistited the Apres Den.The famous Barbary Apes are a breed of cinnamon-colour, tailless monkey’s native to Morocco’s Atlas Mountains. They are publically fed daily at 8 and 4, at a rocky area down Old Queens road. Among the apes’ mischievous talents are grabbing food, purses, and cameras. So hold onto your valuables as they might try and take them off you! Winston Churchill went so far as to issue an order for their preservation when the apes’ numbers began to drop during World War II. Entrance is £10 but includes St. Michael’s Cave, Great Siege Tunnels, Moorish Castle, and Military Heritage Centre. It is a real worthwhile experience, as you will probably never get this close to free roaming apes again! What a wonderful experience it was!

“very disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

there were far more apes at st. michael's cave than there were in the apes den. the view is much more beautiful from the caves as well. we did not even bother getting out of the car for this one.

“Good fun.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 6, 2012

Great fun day , getting up close to these animals was good fun although some can get a little too close, but if you are sensible they are find.

Don't carry food or items that can be easily snatched and enjoy the fun.
