Holiday trip to Gib and friends getting married, chose the Elliot Hotel, as the photos looked good, and location appeared tobe excellent, on arrival found the location was just of main street, so location very good for access to everywhere(not that that is a problems as Gib very very small).
The hotel is rather grand with Nice big rooms and comfy beds but and this is where it is a let down it is very very tired, furniture a bit knocked about, and the bathroom starting to get grubby
Balcony is very small and really not worth the effort although with a good room you can get a good view of the harbour,
Bar excellent if somewhat expensive,
Restaurant, was a little apprehensive, but the food was in fact great although menu was limited.
the Head Waiter Sebit was pleasant and quietly efficient and luckily for us was our waiter,, his companero was anything but!!!< he was loud and lary, and the management really need him to tone it down, furiously noisy in collection and delivery of plates, and kicking through the kitchen door and shouting next orders, He just needs a sit down reveiw and to be less boisterous in his work ( Maybe he was just happy to be in work)!!
WIFI , was superfast but stupidly expensive, and should be subject to some kind of price review, as the competition from local restaurants and bars is fierce and therefore preferable as there is free WIFI everywhere, so cheaper to go out for breakfast and use the free WIFI elsewhere,
The Staff, bar, reception and room cleaners were Excellent, and I had a great and friendly chat with a cleaner lady in the lift who was proud to have worked there for many many years,
The Staff in fact are the redeeming feature of an overtired hotel that needs a refit,
Would i stay here again, hard to say I think i would probably look at the other hotels and do a more thorough comparision check.
