“Best falafel ever and lovely service”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

Me and my friend go somewhere different every week on our lunch break and it's always a struggle to get sat down, get our order taken, get our food and pay our bill within an hour.

But here we were finished with half an hour to spare, due in part to the speedy service and part to how good the food was! We ate quickly!

You are instantly greeted by the friendly staff and made to feel welcome, the food is home-cooked, well-presented and truly delicious, the prices are beyond reasonable and the decor is just right.

In addition to our weekly find-somewhere-new lunch-date, we will be taking a second day each week to come back here :)

Love this place!

“Always a delight”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

We are regulars at Verdi Verdi and find the place a delight. As always, know what's on offer before you go and you will not find it disappointing. Verdi Verdi is in a shopping center although the front does look out onto Casemates Square. The coffee and cakes are, in my opinion, excellent and I am an absolute coffee snob having lived in Italy for years. We tend to go for the falafel with veggies, pitta and chilli jam which never disappoints us although the heat from the jam varies from mild (my least favourite) to pleasingly punchy.
As good as the food is, I most enjoy the atmosphere which is IMHO 100% Gibraltarian: there are always a good number of clients from the local orthodox Jewish community, there are expat mum's and kids, Gibraltarian workers a plenty and a nice mix of tourists to boot. Due to space considerations we sit a bit cozily together, often overhearing each other's conversations, enjoying the food and banter with the sharp witted owner who is justly proud of his establishment and staff. What more could you want?

“All by hand”
Reviewed June 4, 2013

A lot of the restaurants in Gibraltar are muchness-of-sameness, each copying the other's menus which in turn are just British pub food menus with a minor Spanish twist. In contrast, Verdi Verdi's food is all handmade and also changes regularly based on what the owner wants to make that day and availability of fresh ingredients from the local markets. Keep in mind that making everything by hand isn't cheaper. Eating falafel wraps made with bread baked that morning is a bit more pricy than buying bread from the giant Bimbo bread factory in Spain. Verdi Verdi is the type of place that puts hand-made quality ahead of value pricing - this may not be for you, but it's definitely for me.
