“Luxurious yet affordable”
Reviewed October 28, 2013

Had the pleasure to spend two nights in this fantastic hotel. The rooms are very luxurious and comfortable. A large variety of amenities is available for free in the room, i.e. the minibar is free, there's a toothbrush, tooth paste, comb, razor blade and cream and bath robe. The view from the room over the sea is magnificent. Also liked the relaxing music in the room that could be switched on with a simple button.

Staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

The internet is quite okay. At night it may drop a little, but overall its stable enough to at least browse the internet comfortable.

A taxi ride from the Vigo airport to this hotel costs about 20 euros. There's no real good alternative through public transport.

About 10 minutes walk away there's a restaurant called Leman Restaurante Pizzera. I can really recommend it. It's far from being a romantic place to have dinner, but the food is very good and affordable (around 25 euro for a starter, main course and glass of wine).

Only disappointment was to find out that this hotel is called "Spa" but the actual spa is across the street and costs a whooping 19 euros per hour to visit. Compared to the complete room only costing around 100 euros a night, that's a lot of money. I expected it to be included in the room price to be honest.

After a couple of budget hotels, we wanted something a little more stylish and we were pleased we had chosen the Pazo Los Escudos.

Easy to find the parking after 2 traumas in A Coruna and Santiago, we had a warm welcome at reception. Our room – 211 – was on the second floor and although no sea-view, we had a pleasant view over the pool and gardens. The room was very large, beautifully furnished with two huge and extremely comfortable beds and top quality linen. There was an enclosed balcony (good for when the weather is bad), excellent air-con and a fabulous bathroom with white fluffy towels, bathrobes and Bulgari toiletries. There is also an excellent hair dryer. The mini bar is stocked with complimentary soft drinks which are replenished daily – a lovely touch. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed linen was changed every 2 days.

Breakfast was good, but not as lavish as we had thought it might have been for a 5 star. Particular omissions were no (fabulous) Galician bread or any wholemeal breads.

Another reason we booked the hotel, was that we had hoped for a pre-breakfast swim in the outdoor pool. Sadly, the pool and gardens are locked and not opened until 12 noon. This was a shame.

Something else which surprised us for a 5 star hotel, was the lack of diligence in clearing away crockery/glasses from the pool area. As we said, we overlooked the pool and noted that a table full of used glasses, bottles and plates was not cleared away for 24 hours. This happened on two occasions – quite extraordinary.

Despite a couple of glitches, this is a very comfortable and stylish hotel and we would happily return.

Stayed here for a wedding and had an amazing time. We had a superior room in the newer building overlooking the bay which was fantastic. The room was large, very modern and comfortable. The bathroom was equally impressive and clean with nice little touches provided.
Breakfast was good with a lot of choice.
The staff were excellent throughout our stay, very friendly and equally professional. The wedding which was at the hotel was amazing. The food was great, and the views, setting and gardens at the hotel made it even more special. A very nice hotel and excellent venue for a wedding.

I stayed one night in this hotel and I can definitly recomend it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, clean and with a great bathroom. I didn't get a chance to use the Spa but just visited it and it looks great. I will certainly come back on my next visit in Vigo.

we spent a week using 2 different room type due to lack of availability , we had a superior room ocean view and a suite ocean view , both were quiet and comfy although the tv is really outdated and doesnt work properly , which is a shame for a 5 star hotel !
staff was always nice and very helpful, the lack of consistency of the cleaning service was a bit desapointing though.
the breakfast was good and offered enough choice. Staff was always vey friendly and efficient.
really negative side of the hotel is the fitness : there is only 1 running machine no weights and the indoor pool it is very very very small , opening hours are a total nonsense for a 5 * , closed on monday , open 3 hours on sunday etc.... and worst of all it is not free of charge , which would have been ok if the hotel did advise of the price prior to using the facility ! but they did not , so beware !
the beach is nice to have a stroll but not at all a spot where you can sunbath nor swim as it is just in front of the harbour so i would not set a foot in this water .
overall the hotel is a local 5 stars , but on an international level it does not provide any amazing location nor amenities , so if you book a superior room price is quite good value for money , as soon as you upgrade i think the rate is too much for what you get.

After 5 days in the depth of Galicia, we decided to check into Hotel Pazo Los Escudos for the last 2 nights of our holiday, in search of a bit of luxury...and that's exactly what we found. We were greeted on arrival by a very helpful porter, who showed us into reception and parked our car. We had arrived an hour or so before the official check in time and were served complementary coffee and pastries in the bar until our rooms were ready. Both rooms were huge with 2 large beds in each, first rate bathrooms complete with Bulgari bath products and delightful views across the elegantly manicured gardens, towards the sea. The outside pool was very pleasant and the spa was luxurious and well equipped. Gated access led directly onto the beach which whilst being quite a busy town beach, was sandy and offered an entertaining view of the cruise liners and other large ships arriving at the nearby port. Breakfast was exceptional, with a varried choice of hot and cold food and loads of fresh fruit. The restaurant was pricey and although the food was excellent, it was a bit much for us with 2 teenage boys, so on our second night we opted to have supper in the bar, which had a wonderful view of the sea. The choice was good and reasonably priced, including Ceasar Salad, burgers and Club Sandwiches. There was a wedding going on which livend things up, we benefited from their fireworks display! The hotel is situated on the outskirts of Vigo, too far to walk in. The helpful porter offered to call us a cab, but we decided to drive in and found that parking was easy. This hotel is deservedly 5 star and a great option for a few days in Vigo.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms in the old building are the nicest.

Stayed in this hotel for two nights in early july. We had booked a sea view at a supplement, when we arrived there was a fun fair beisde the hotel. The music was so loud that we could not use the balcony. We reported this to the hotel staff and were offered an alterate room with no balcony. We decided to stay in original room as we were assured the music would stop at midnight. The music kept us awake until 2.40am. We had booked the hotel as it had a pool and a Spa. These were closed despite the weather having improved. Yet again we were mis-informed that it would be open on our second day. We were bitterly dispoointed in our stay here, the staff at the reception while we were checking out were disinterested and did not offer us any concession.

Room Tip: Ask regarding the expected noise level, as this is not the only review complaining of noise
