The islands Cies is one of the most beautiful, clean and fun beach I have ever been to. The ride via the ferry is about 45 minutes and dolphins along the way are sighted. The beach is gorgeous with white sand but slightly cool clear waters. It is a nice place to camp out or picnic but all trash need to be brought back to where it came from keeping the island clean and free from environmental hazards. Islas Cies, la playa mejor del mundo!

Nice beaches, white very soft sand and beautiful sea, but although we were there in the mid august, it was very cold and windy. The sea was incredibly cold so it was impossible to have a swim. First we were afraid what do we do all day long on the island but than we discovered that also walking around the island is very nice. For those who get hungry, there is quite good self service restaurant serving sea food such as fresh octopus.

The ferry ride is average. Nothing to write home about.

Islas Cies has no garbage cans so you would think the ferry would let you throw your trash away after you board on your way back to Vigo. That is not the case. It is rather costly for only a 40-45 min. ride that doesn't allow you to throw your trash away but nonetheless, an absolute MUST do if you're in Vigo!

The end justifies the means. What you find at the end is so incredible that makes the rest look a bit meaningless.

The Isla de Cies was the highlight of our time in Vigo. The ferry (18.50euro rtn) took about 45 minutes and we were greeted by an island with white beach and crystal clear blue water. This is a national park, so there are no shops except for the restaurant at the pier. The prices were predictably expensive so we, many others brought food with us. There are also no rubbish bins so visitors must take their rubbish with them. My 14yr old daughters and I did the Mont Faro walk to the lighthouse (3.5km each way on well marked paths) which was just spectacular - with constantly changing outlooks over stunning beaches, rocky outcrops, and neighbouring islands.
Although the day was around 30 degrees, the water was still very cold and most people just lay on the beach. Topless and nude sunbathing was quite common on the beaches away from the pier.

This is a very beautiful place, but I must disagree with those who call it the "best beach in the world". Those people have obviously never been to the beaches of North Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef (Australia)!
