“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2013

Couldn't fault this Hotel. Perfect location with the Cathedral and Old Town a short walk away. The room was well equipped and the breakfast amazing. Indoor and outdoor pools. A gym for those who find it necessary. Would definitely recommend this Hotel!

This hotel has good bedrooms clean comfortable, but in keeping with most so called 5 star establishments in Spain the service leaves a lot to be desired.I would assess it as an average 3 star hotel service. I have discovered that there is no orgaisation in Spain rating hotels nor restaurants. The hotel company decides what they want to charge then allocates itself stars accordingly, the only exceptions are those hotels belonging to organisations such as Leading Hotels of the world who employ a professional company to assess their hotels every year. This is a bit confusing for customers who choose hotels for their service rather than the physical areas of the hotel.

A nice comfortable hotel about a 10 minute walk from the centre. The rooms are well appointed and spacious. The service is average, but the staff is friendly. At the bar you can wait awhile for someone to show up to serve you. At times you have the feeling that the hotel is deserted. Dinner is served from 20:30 hrs and offers a limited selection of dishes. Better to eat in the centre of town. Breakfast is very good and offers a nice selection of hot and cold.

This hotel is very good. Nothing too extreme. Seems new and in very good condition. Well decorated spacious and clean. The food at the restaurant hasn't got a large variety of options but it has enough and they are all excellent. The breakfast is also more than average.

Stayed here for two nights at the end of our week's tour of the North West of Spain. Was really sorry we hadn't picked the Parador as it seemed amazing and we had a drink there. The Obradoiro was about 15 minutes walk uphill to the centre of town and it would have been nice if the hotel had a shuttle service like a 5* we stayed in Croatia had - and you just phoned a number that they gave you when you wanted to return. I,m afraid 5* covers a multitude! Anyway the Obradoiro is very modern , clean goodsize rooms and ours had a lovely view towards the beautiful town. Breakfast was fine, dinner good but no great ambience in the restaurant and the bar seemed to be a bit of a hit and miss affair - it didn't seem to be always staffed. The pool looked very clinical - all concrete, no flowers and certainly no waiters serving coffee or cocktails! Apart from plenty of parking and pleasant staff the hotel just lacked a bit of atmosphere to make it that little bit special.

We stayed in a nice standard room with a king sized bed. The room was modern and clean, with fridge, safe and tv. The bathroom was modern and had bath with shower.
The hotel itself is close to the city centre, about 10mins walk, all well lit at night.
When I say there was something lacking, I think it is because I have certain expectations for a five star hotel that were not met.
There is rarely staff on the bar, so you need to wait around 10 mins every time you wish to have a drink.
The TVs in the rooms are not digital. This may seem like an irrelevant issue, however in Europe a digital tv will allow you to change the audio on some channels, so I can for example watch movies on canal+ in English, or change National Geographic to English. It's 2013, better hotels really need to have digital tvs. Catch up NH!
No staff in the pool or spa area, discarded towels lying around etc.
The free wifi, lasts for 24 hrs then you need to visit reception for a new log on. This was inconvenient and our access would regularly run out at random times well before the 24hr limit.
Maybe it's unfair to compare Spanish 5 star with say the US. But even a comparison with Melia 5 star in Bilbao, NH is trailing.

Must say that interaction with all staff has been pleasant and the cleaning staff servicing our room have been excellent.

Room Tip: If you are a couple, request a room with one bed, as it is huge!

The name Obradoiro misleads potential guests making us believe it is close to the center of the Sanctuary. It is actually more than a mile away. On the other hand it is a very modern and comfortable which is difficult to get in a downtown hotel. For a reputed five star hotel it lacks a restaurant.
