We stayed at the Hotel Altair for 5 nights end of September after 2 weeks of walking one of the Caminos de Santiago.
The interior of the hotel is fantastic. It is a great mix of well remained charm of a historic building and modern design, which is still providing a warm atmosphere throughout. Stone walls combined with wood, warm wall colours, tasteful furnishing and decor. The rooms, including bathrooms (we stayed in 2 different rooms as we arrived earlier than originally planned), are spacious and spotless clean with plenty of storage space and very comfortable beds. The breakfast is delicious! Everything is sourced local - ham, cheeses, a great variety of jams, fresh fruits together with cake, toasted croissants and bread.
The staff is wonderful. They are very welcoming and always helpful. The owner could have not chosen a better Team!
The location: Just a short stroll away from the historic city centre of Santiago de Compostela with the Cathedral, bars, restaurants and shops.
We would highly recommend this Hotel, it is the perfect place to stay in Santiago.

Very charming hotel to stay in Santiago. It is located in a quiet place near the city center (5 minute walk). When you enter the hotel you are impressed by the high ceiling and the nice and modern little lounge, with wall made of stones and wood. We had a warm welcome by the staff which is very helpful and won’t hesitate to give you any information. The rooms, also with a stone and would design, are rather small but very comfortable, modern, clean and with wifi. All in all very good 3 star hotel but also (I guess) a bit more expensive than others... The only small disadvantage is that the train station and the airport shuttle bus station are a bit far away from the hotel (maybe 20-30 minute walk). But there is the option to take the bus (public transport) which leaves you just next to the hotel.

This was a beautiful find. The hotel is nicely nestled in the walkable parts of the city. The rooms are clean, modern, and with all the ammenities. The staff were excellent. Great breakfasts. Yes, it is on the street so not for sleeping late but not a problem because you will want to get up and roam the city. Definitely would stay there again.

Room Tip: I'm sure all the rooms are great. And all likely to be on the street side.

In a business trip now to santiago de Compostela, the option was for the Altair Hotel.
Small hotel nice rooms very frendly staff free wireless and in the heart of the city.
It is in fact the right place to stay in Galicia.
Walking distance to the beautifull Cathedral and you'll have a car parking in a walking time of 3/4 minutes (very difficult to park near the hotel).
As to restaurants and bars the problem is the choice as you'll find plenty of good places to have great food and furthermore good wines (try Alvarinho).
Recommended 100% this nice hotel.

This hotel has an attractive and very distinctive modern (Japanese influenced) style which contrasts strikingly with the mediaeval and magically environment of Santiago. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed. The staff are very helpful and friendly and have very good English. While the soundproofing to the outside of the hotel is very good, the soundproofing between rooms is rather poor, meaning that if you are sensitive to noise you may be woken up by neighbours or by cleaning in the room upstairs. But overall I would recommend this hotel mainly for its great staff, good location, cleanliness and facilities.

This hotel is in a great location, near enough to walk to all the main sights, but just far enough away to avoid the main crowds.

Nice modern interior with good decor and free wifi. Rooms comfy and spacious, and a great breakfast with some local jams available.

However the staff are the best part of this hotel. Fluent in many languages, they are always on hand to help out.

Perfect place to stay after finishing the Camino and needing some R&R.
