Gran Hotel Santiago is on the outskirts of the city into a modern neighborhood and is about 25 minutes walk to the center. It is a large, rather modern business hotel. It looks neat and well maintained. The hotel has a spacious lobby / reception area including a bar. The rooms and bathrooms are of a decent size and had all amenities. The shower panel is somewhat complex to operate and requires some engineering skills. There is sufficient hanging and storage space in the room. With the group we had a buffet dinner, which was good; the breakfast was pretty standard. Most travel companions had problems with the air conditioning in their rooms. The staff in the bar was very unfriendly and the bar was unmanned most of the time. All in all, one would expect a bit more from a 4 star hotel.
