Having read the reviews on Trip Advisor, this hotel was the obvious choice for Santiago. It is perfectly situated not only for the cathedral but also the monastery and pilgrim museum. Despite arriving early we were able to check-in to our lovely room by the friendly hotelier. The room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated. We chose to have breakfast and we were not disappointed. Freshly squeezed orange juice and fruit salad were accompanied with a wide choice of the usual continental items. Service was attentive and we felt that the hotelier could not do any more to assist us.

My husband and I stayed here after walking the Camino. It is located very close to the church, places for dining and the front desk manager was so nice and even went out of his way to help us with our travel plans after we left Santiago. He made recommendations for places to eat, etc. we had a double superior room and it was very nice.
Would stay there again .

As Artes is a very small hotel (less than 10 rooms) with an outstanding location, 200 m from Obradoiro square. It is cosy and welcoming.
Our room, a superior one, was correct in size with a rather spacious bathroom. We had a glimpse at other rooms, some of them are really small. Equipment and amenities were ok. The gentleman at the reception was friendly, and helpful. The quality/price ratio of the accommodation was good, considering that Santiago is a very touristic city. Although we stayed there on a weekend, we did not suffer too much from the noise in the streets around, as commented in other commentaries about As Artes.
Breakfast is pretty basic for the price (10.80 euros). The fact that the entrance door was always closed was a little inconvenient (one key for the two of us).
At least when we were there (mid-September), we had no problem to drive our car up to the hotel and unload/load our baggage.
We definitely recommend this charming hotel.

Room Tip: Superior rooms (ours was just at the corner on the 2nd floor, with a nice view on the cathedral towe...

This hotel was definitely everything we hoped for, charming and so close to the center of activity in Santiago. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive, and you can't beat the price for the location and amenities. Had the more expensive double room and we overlooked the street, with views of the cathedral towers over the nearby buildings.
Noise is, unfortunately, the biggest issue, mainly because of it's location so close to the cathedral and all the activity that surrounds it. The taxis for visitors park right in front of the hotel and are often talking late into the night. And, of course, the bagpipers are constant during the day. Getting to the hotel and parking are also a challenge. So bring your earplugs and be ready to walk a few blocks with your suitcases!

Having just spent a night in a hotel in the NH chain -- sleek, contemporary and soulless -- we found the perfect antidote in Hotel As Artes. I can't imagine a better location, steps away from the cathedral, or a more homey, welcoming ambience. Our room, with bed, daybed and small cafe table and chairs, provided a comfortable respite after hours of exploring and sightseeing, and the proprietors could not be more helpful, clueing us in to the better tapas bars and not-to-be-missed sights. This hotel is a personal creation of its owners, whose sometimes whimsical creativity is what makes it so special. Highly recommended.

Really very good location for the Cathedral ( about 100 metres ) with paying, public carpark nearby.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Only drawback for us was the "twin" room which consisted of a double bed and not comfortable day bed/settee.

Room Tip: No knowledge of other rooms

This small cosy hotel (only 7 rooms) is situated just outside the cathedral. It is historic but the rooms are very comfortable and nice. Every room is dedicated to an art; theatre, sculpture, arcitecture, dance, film. etc. A great experience. Breakfast is lovely and the owners are friendly and hospitable.

Room Tip: Book in time. 2 superior rooms, 3 ordinary and 2 small rooms. All representing an art. We loved &quo...
