“Ideal base for Santiago”
Reviewed June 18, 2012

A modern impressive hotel between the airport and the city and near Monte Gozo the pilgrims first view of the city. Very comfortable rooms with good bathrooms, excellent buffet breakfast, plenty of free parking. A shuttle bus which takes you in and out of the city centre near the old town from 9 a.m. Until 8.30 p.m. (The driver is a mine of local information) On demand. Beautiful landscaped gardens and outdoor swimming pool.

Room Tip: The main hotel has the best views.

Our room was HUGE! And we slept in complete silence and comfort. The beds are great, the temperature in the room was perfect and the hallway was quiet. Very fancy and posh. The receptionists are friendly and helpful and most speak English quiet well. The shuttle to town made the 2 KM trip convenient and the driver gave us very useful information about getting around town and what sites to visit. Brkfst wasn't cheap, but they did have some egg choices besides the usual European fare.

Room Tip: We were on the first floor not far from the receptionists desk and couldn't hear a peep. So pro...

The hotel is located in monte do gozo, the main entrance of pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela. Very easy to reach from the main motorway routes and sorrounded by forests, the hotel offers high quality rooms and services, far away from noise and stress. The monumental area is quite far if you want to walk, but if you travel with car there are several parking lots by the city centre easy to access. Enjoy the food: it is superb. I strongly recomend "pote gallego" to recover energies at lunch.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms facing Santiago. You would enjoy a nice view.

I loved this hotel and stayed there at the end of the Camino to rest and recuperate. It is a lovely location, just on the outskirts of the city on a hill. There is a free shuttle into and out of the city, which is really great. Breakfast was good, and room service was ok too. Food and drinks are quite expensive though, although the rate for the room was good. The staff on the front desk could have done with going back to charm school, particularly when speaking English. There were two of us and I speak Spanish, but the other person didn't, so that was what brought the abruptness to the fore. I needed to see a doctor when I was there, at a cost of ninety euro. They phoned the doctor for me at reception, so that was very helpful. There is a computer just off reception with internet access, which was useful.

Can't beat it; a family room with enough space, great service, and free shuttle to the city for just under 75 Euros! The place is great, meets the full four stars. The staff is very friendly; the shuttle service when you need it works great (extra points for the driver). The restaurant is good, however is expensive (when compared to what you can get in town).

Be careful with noise as insulation is not great and you might hear the guests from rooms around if they are noisy.

This hotel is a gem just outside of Santiago de Compostela. There is nothing bad to say about this place. The hotel is situated outside the city on a hilltop. There is free ample parking. Once you park, just leave your car because the hotel staff will take you into the city with one of their minivans. Just call them when you want to return and they will pick you up. This service is complimentary. The rooms are fabulous. We stayed in a Jr. Suite and it was the nicest room that we stayed in all of Spain. The bath jacuzzi was wonderful and relaxing after a day of walking Santiago. Breakfast was incredible. The manager asked us if we wanted any egg dishes in addition to a large breakfast buffet. They aimed to please. The staff was very attentive.

I really liket Los Abetos. The surroundings of the hotel are really relaxing and beautiful. The views are really nice too. The lobby is big, with lots of seating areas all over the hotel, great to hang out with friends. Breakfast is really good. The quality of the cooking there is not so great. I mean, the food is well made, the meat is tender, but the seasoning wasn't my taste at all.
The rooms are big and clean, really sunny. The beds are comfortable, the bathroom is good. Our tub was kind of clogged and the problem couldn't be solved while we were there, so the cleaning lady came and tried to unclog it... no succes.
The hotel location could be good or bad, depending on what you want. It is really far from downtown, but the hotel offers a shuttle service. You have to call the driver when you want him to take you back, so, you need to have a cell phone with you.
The swimmingpool is outside, good only for summer days.
I would stay there again, but I wouldn't have dinner or lunch there.
Staff is helpful, spanish stile. They tend to be kind of dry and short. The waiter asked if we wanted coffee, my friend said later. Waiter laughed nervously and said: "No, coffe now, not later! No coffe later." That was hilarious! Weird, but funny!

Room Tip: You can ask for a room with a view. The rooms with two floors are outside of the main building and a...
