“Only stop here if you have to!”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

We stayed here the night before entering Santiago on the Camino de Santiago. It is located only 4 kilometers from the Cathedral, so the location was wonderful.
The facilities are less than amazing. The rooms feel cramped and are packed with 8 beds. Quiet time began at midnight (that's only a few hours before the average pilgrim is up and on the trail). And the bathroom/shower room was filthy. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in several days.
Overall, it would've been better to travel into Santiago, or stop for the evening before coming to Monte do Gozo. There was a campground located a few kilometers before. That might be a good option.
We also ate at the restaurant located on the property. The food was good, but extremely overpriced.

“Impressive monument, but...”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

the view was a bit disappointing. I thought it was possible to look down at the city, but it wasn´t. People all over the place, but I suppose you have to expect that, the last natural place to stop or rest before entering the city - and the Cathedral

“Camino de Santiago”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

Monte Gozo sits above Santiago and its here that walkers make their last push to the Cathedral to claim their Compostela, many having walked the whole 500 miles from St Jean-Pied-de Port and some having a further 60 miles to walk to Finnisterre.

“4.5 km to Santiago.”

A great place to stay before the long walk is over. Great way to celebrate the pilgrimage with many others.
One of the best Albergues on the walk... clean, well managed and reasonable

“Mount of Joy”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

Coming to the top of Monte do Gozo and seeing the Cathedral in Santiago for the first time after walking for 5 days to get there was a great feeling. The statues of the pilgrims pointing the way to the Cathedral is great and we couldn't help taking a photo doing the same thing. It's all downhill from here (literally not in a bad way) and into Santiago for the last few kilometres of the long trip.
