One of the best paradors stayed in. Lots to see wandering around inside (as well as in the town).

Breakfasts excellent as usual for Paradors. Ate dinner one night; very good.

Room very good, nice and quiet.

Room tip: Top floor always good for Paradors (as otherwise you can sometimes hear people above clunking around on wooden floors)

I have spent almost an entire week in this Parador (business + small vacation) and as in many other occasions in other Spanish cities this remains by far my preferred accommodation solution. The building is just fantastic. Yes, there is a bit of noise outside (Santiagans, make sure not to transform a beautiful historic town so full of religious meaning into a new sort of Disneyland ;-) ).

The view on the cathedral is unique, literally.

I found people in Santiago very friendly and open (not always the case in my numerous previous trips to Spain) and the hotel is up to expectations.

The two internal restaurants are great. Every corner of the palace (well, actually old hospital) is a gem.

Room tip: Have a drink in the external terrace at sunset and watch the cathedral facade change colors.

The two female receptionists when we checked in were incredibly surly and superior.
This was definitely not a warm and friendly welcome, unlike every other paradore in which we have stayed. We were there for two nights and the demeanour of these two women did not improve, especially when we insisted on a room change to get away from the constant racket of a man playing the bagpipes in the street opposite our room until gone 11pm at night. I’ve heard plenty of military pipers in my time and enjoyed them but this guy seemed unable to produce a recognisable tune. Just a massive racket.

Room tip: Away from the street and the buskers who perform from about 0830 to 2330.

Location, location, location! A brilliant historic Parador forming one side of the central plaza.
Excellent service and remarkable rooms, the history of the building just adding to the experience. Valet-service underground car park.

This is the very best hotel in Santiago de Compostela. It's located right beside the Cathedral so couldn't be better sited. The hotel facilities, staff & food are all excellent. It's the best parador we've stayed in recently.
